FIFA Club World Cup: Geremi Njitap names club that won’t win trophy

Published

on

Former Real Madrid player, Geremi Njitap has said that there is no chance of Inter Miami winning the FIFA Club World Cup even with Lionel Messi in the team.

According to the Cameroonian, the American side do not stand a chance, adding that there are better teams with great players at the tournament.

The Herons will play their first game against Egypt Premier League side, Al Ahly at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, on Saturday, June 14.

Inter Miami entered the competition being staged in the US after winning the MLS Supporters’ Shield in 2024.

Njitap noted that the Argentine superstar is no longer the Messi he used to be as he has no doubts passed his prime.

Messi will turn 38 later this month and Njitap told Boyle Sports Messi is no longer young.

He said via Goal, “Lionel Messi is no longer young…” he said, adding that the Argentine cannot boast of good players around him at Inter Miami as he had at Barcelona and PSG.

“He is going to come up against great clubs who have great players in the peak of their careers,” he pointed out.

“Does he have a chance of winning it? I don’t think so.”

Inter Miami are in Group A of the tournament along with Al Ahly, Palmeiras and Porto.

Chelsea manager, Enzo Maresca, has told Noni Madueke that he is free to leave the Premier League club this summer.

Arsenal are believed to hold an interest in adding Madueke to their squad.

The Gunners have reportedly initiated fresh round of transfer talks, with Chelsea valuing the 23-year-old at £50 million.

However, Jamie Gittens’ arrival from Borussia Dortmund could now lead to Madueke’s exit.

Speaking to reporters, Maresca said: “Noni has been very important for us during this season. Today, again, he has been important.

“But my message to the players and to the club is that I want just players that are happy to be with us. The ones that are not happy, they are free to go.”
