Former nun marries Catholic priest in secret after they fell in love while praying together.
Lais Dognini, a former nun who later became an influencer, originally met priest Jackson Dognini when he offered to pray for her to help her deal with depression, Brazilian outlet O Globo reported.
The couple married in secret in March, but revealed their union in an Instagram Story on Tuesday, October 7.
Both had dedicated years to the Catholic Church before meeting more than six years ago, when Lais was still a missionary.
Although they shared the same missionary spaces, they had never said so much as “hello” to each other, O Globo reported.
Jackson spent five years in the seminary training for the priesthood, while Lais lived for two years in a Carmelite convent where she dedicated her life to prayer and service.
But when Lais suffered depression and left the convent, returning to her home to focus on her recovery, Jackson, still in the seminary, sent her a message saying he was praying for her.
He believed she would one day return to religious life, but the pair kept exchanging messages and eventually became friends.
Jackson later decided to leave the seminary after a long period of reflection about his vocation.
In April 2024, the couple began dating, becoming engaged in October last year before tying the knot in March.

“It doesn’t seem like much, right? But let’s face it, we’re adults now and we know what we want in life,” Lais wrote on her Instagram as she shared the news for the first time on October 7.

Plateau Killings: Rev Dachomo vows to drag Nigerian Govt to ICC
Outspoken Plateau State cleric, Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo, has vowed to drag the Nigerian government to the International Criminal Court (ICC) over the alleged killing of Christians in the state and other northern parts of the country.
Rev. Dachomo who is the regional chairman of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) in Barkin Ladi local government area of the state, made the threat in a message he posted on his social media platform.
He disclosed that he had already compiled a comprehensive list of the number of Christians murdered by Islamic extremists and Fulani bandits, as well as churches destroyed since 2010 and would present them to the ICC and the United States government to take action.
The fearless man of God also accused the Nigerian government and the leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) of being silent and ignoring the mass killing of Christians in the Middle Belt, especially in Plateau, noting that the denial by the government and CAN had worsened the situation and emboldened the attackers.
To achieve the aim of dragging the Nigerian government to the international court, Rev. Dachomo confirmed that some concerned Nigerians and international donor agencies have begun donating money to the cause, as well as to help family members of victims of various attacks and to support him in his ongoing humanitarian efforts.
The clergy particularly drew attention to a recent mass burial of 17 victims of an attack in Heipang district of Plateau State which he said bore the trademark of a Christian genocide despite attempts by the Nigerian government and the presidency’s constant denial of the targeted and systematic killings.
He added that part of his documents, which will be sent to the ICC, will include testimonies from victims, survivors, mass burials, and graves of victims across the Middle Belt region.
“The world needs to know that what we are saying is not false. I will go to any length to prove that this government is lying. We are also planning to take Nigeria before the International Criminal Court and sue the Miyetti Allah association for their role in these atrocities,” the cleric declared.
“Hundreds of lives have been lost in attacks on Plateau villages that were never documented, and many victims remain unaccounted for.
“On March 7th, 2010, Dogo Nahawa, a Christian-dominated community in Jos South local government area of Plateau State, was attacked by Muslim-Hausa Fulani, where over 500 people were killed in one night.
“Due to my outcry, my own village has been attacked several times and over 50 people have been slaughtered, including my family members and friends. My best friend’s wife and five children were burned alive.
“Since the Federal Government claimed there was no genocide, that statement has pushed me to intensify this work. CAN is also denying the genocide, so I’m determined to prove them wrong.
“Right now, I’m travelling around to document cases of Christian genocide because many of the affected villages were never recorded, even though there are graves. I have been moving from one grave site to another.
“In Jaruwa, worshippers were burnt alive during a church service. None survived because the terrorists surrounded the building, set it on fire with gas lamps, and trapped everyone inside.
“I intend to cover all areas where Christians have been attacked.
I’m going to Wurekum, Doruwa, Mangu, and Bokkos, all the places where Christian genocide has been reported. I’ll compile all these incidents into a report and present it to the world to show that genocide is happening in Nigeria,” he said.

Shi’ite sect members protest against Trump’s invasion threat in Kano
Members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), popularly known as Shiites, today November 8, took to the streets of Kano to stage a protest against United States President Donald Trump’s recent statement threatening to invade Nigeria to take out terrorists.
Members of the sect marched across major roads in Kano city, carried placards and banners rejecting Trump’s claim that Christians were being targeted in a genocide in Nigeria. Some of the demonstrators were seen dragging the American flag on the ground, while others displayed effigies of the US president.
Trump had recently designated Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern,” claiming that there was ongoing persecution of Christians by terrorist groups and warning that if the Nigerian government failed to act, he would deploy U.S. troops to stop the killings. He also directed the U.S. Department of War to prepare a possible military action plan.
In reaction, the IMN dismissed Trump’s comments as false and provocative. The sect group described the US leader’s claims as “inflammatory and dangerous,” accusing western nations of using propaganda to create religious division in Nigeria.
They argued that their group has always stood for unity and peaceful coexistence, stressing that Nigeria’s challenges were driven by corruption and political greed, not religion.

Nigerian Christians embark on prayers for Rev Dachomo as group predicts assassination
Nigerian Christians, especially those resident in Plateau State, have embarked on prayers for God to protect a fearless man of God, Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo after an ‘Anonymous Group’ predicted that he has been marked for assassination due to his stance on the killing of Christians in the state.
The Anonymous Group, which is a decentralized, international online collective known for its “hacktivism,” which involves cyber attacks and online protests against entities such as governments, corporations, and religious organizations, in a post on its Facebook page on Friday night, had written that due to his regular videos exposing the killing of Christians in Plateau, Islamic extremists and bandits have have issued orders to assassinate him within the next seven days believing that he is responsible for US President Donald Trump’s threat to send US soldiers to take out terrorists in the country.
In the post, the Anonymous Group wrote:
“Photos of Pastor Dachomo Bwede Ezekiel, a man of God, have been circulated among Islamic terrorists and bandits in the former country.
“They have issued orders to assassinate him within the next seven days, believing he is responsible for Trump’s intervention.
“The militants are furious that their livelihoods and their very lives are now in jeopardy and are being masterminded by this man. The instructions are “Kill him and cut his head off “
“Circulate this message and make sure it gets to the family and to Pastor Ezekiel. This is an emergency. Share and mention all your friends and relatives in these areas! This must not happen! This is another blood bath! People would be burnt and brutally slaughtered! This must not happen! Do everything within your power to make this plan a failure! Please we beg!!”
After the message went viral, social media users went into action with prayers for the safety of the man of God whom they believe is one of the few who have stood up for Christians in the face of alleged Christian genocide.
