In a significant boost for German and Italian football, UEFA has announced that both countries will have an additional spot in the upcoming 2024-25 Champions League season.

This decision comes on the heels of stellar performances by clubs from both nations in European competitions this season.

With the Champions League set to expand to accommodate 36 teams next season, UEFA revealed that two of the four new spots would be allocated based on the collective performance of clubs from respective associations in UEFA competitions.

Following the conclusion of the semifinal legs across the Champions League, Europa League, and Europa Conference League, UEFA confirmed that Italy and Germany have secured the top two positions in the 2023-24 association club coefficients.

Although outside the top four in the Bundesliga, Borussia Dortmund is poised to qualify in fifth place.

Meanwhile, Bayer Leverkusen, crowned Bundesliga champions, will contest the Europa League final against Italian outfit Atalanta, who are fighting for fifth place in Serie A alongside AS Roma.
