GOC 82 DIVISION MAJOR GENERAL FADAIR0 MAKES INAUGURAL VISIT TO 34 ARTILLERY BRIGADE OBINZE, IMO STATE, CALLS FOR HEIGHTENED FOCUS ON SECURITY OPERATIONS.

Major General OA Fadairo, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 82 Division and Commander of the Joint Task Force South-East Operation UDO KA (OPUK), Nigerian Army, has successfully completed a two-day maiden operational tour of the 34 Artillery Brigade, Obinze, Owerri, Imo State. The visit, conducted from 19 to 20 November 2025, offered the GOC the opportunity to familiarize himself with key formations under his command, evaluate operational preparedness, and engage directly with officers and soldiers serving in the Division.

During the visit, Major General Fadairo received a warm reception from the Commander of the 34 Artillery Brigade and Local Commander OPUK, General IM Abbas, who briefed him on current achievements, challenges, and ongoing operations within the Brigade’s area of responsibility. Speaking to the troops, the GOC commended their commitment and resilience in the face of operational challenges, while conveying a message of encouragement from the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu NAM. He urged personnel to maintain professionalism, discipline, and vigilance, highlighting that these qualities are crucial to the Nigerian Army’s mission to curb insecurity in the South-East.

The GOC also visited units actively engaged in offensive operations in Mbaitoli, Njaba, Oru East, and Okigwe Local Government Areas, motivating troops to sustain high operational tempo and remain focused on achieving strategic objectives. He further instructed that equipment and resources be properly maintained to ensure operational efficiency and reiterated that collective effort and adherence to command directives remain critical for mission success.

In addition to troop engagements, Major General Fadairo conducted courtesy visits to key stakeholders, including the Eze Imo and Chairman of the Imo State Council of Traditional Rulers, Eze Dr. EC Okeke CFR. He reaffirmed the Army’s commitment to supporting local authorities, strengthening civil–military collaboration, and promoting community-focused initiatives. Visits to the Headquarters Maritime Component at the Nigerian Navy Base and the Headquarters Air Component OPUK further underscored his comprehensive approach to operational oversight and inter-service coordination.

The visit highlights Major General Fadairo’s dedication to fostering troop welfare, enhancing readiness, and consolidating efforts to restore peace and stability in the South-East. By directly engaging with soldiers, reviewing operational activities, and emphasizing accountability, the GOC has reinforced the Nigerian Army’s enduring commitment to national security and professional excellence.
