The Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu International Conference Centre, Owerri, was filled with excitement and optimism today, October 11, 2025, as Governor Hope Uzodimma announced the addition of 10,000 new graduates to the Skill-Up Imo Programme, raising the total number of digitally trained youths in the state to an impressive 50,000.

The event marked the graduation ceremony of the Cohort 3 trainees of the Skill-Up Imo Project, an initiative under the Ministry of Digital Economy and e-Government aimed at equipping young Imolites with world-class digital skills to enhance employability, entrepreneurship, and innovation.

In a major highlight of the occasion, Governor Uzodimma unveiled a new digital innovation — the “My Imo” mobile application, developed entirely by young Imolites trained under the Skill-Up Imo Programme. The app, which serves as a digital gateway for citizens to access government services, information, and community resources, underscores the practical impact of the state’s investment in digital education and youth empowerment.

Addressing the enthusiastic graduates, Governor Uzodimma reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to building a knowledge-driven economy that positions Imo State as a hub for technology and innovation in Nigeria. He urged the graduates to deploy their newly acquired skills to drive digital transformation across the state and create opportunities for others.

Commissioner for Digital Economy and e-Government, Dr. Chimezie Amadi, commended the Governor for his visionary leadership and sustained investment in human capital development.

The Skill-Up Imo Programme, launched in 2022, has trained youths in diverse areas such as data analytics, software development, cybersecurity, product design, digital marketing, and other emerging technologies. The programme has become one of Nigeria’s most impactful digital empowerment initiatives, positioning Imo as a leader in digital innovation. With this milestone, the Uzodimma administration reinforces its commitment to youth empowerment, digital inclusion, and economic transformation.

With this milestone and the launch of the My Imo app, the Uzodimma administration continues to strengthen its legacy of youth empowerment, digital inclusion, and sustainable economic transformation — one skill at a time.
