Gunmen Suspected To Be Herders Kill 16-Year-Old Enugu Student, Sexually Assault Sister
Ekwutosblog gathered that the tragic incident occurred on Saturday.
Some gunmen suspected to be herdsmen have reportedly killed a 16-year-old student of Nsukka High School, identified as Chikamso and sexually molested his sister.
A video seen by SaharaReporters on Tuesday shows the lifeless body of the student lying on the floor with family members crying profusely.
The late Chikamso, who hailed from Ukpata, in the Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State, was reportedly killed while returning to Nsukka, where he was studying.
He was reportedly with his younger sister when they were intercepted by the herdsmen who sexually abused her.
Chikamso was reportedly shot in the head while trying to stop the assailants from abusing his sister.
According to the locals, the deceased and his sister were attacked at Ukwuapku between Ukpata and Uvuru communities.
A short statement accompanying the video reads: “This is a young student of Nsukka High School from Ukpata going back to school today (Saturday) and was attacked and killed by Fulani herdsmen at Ukwuapku between Ukpata and Uvuru.”
Meanwhile, the surviving victim is receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital in Nsukka town.
It was learnt that the police and other security agencies had been notified of the incident. Residents described such attacks as a regular occurrence in the agrarian communities of Uzo-Uwani council area, more recently.
SaharaReporters recently reported that armed men suspected to be herders attacked mourners at Ugwuijoro Nimbo and killed four persons.
However, efforts to speak with the spokesperson for the state police command, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, to find out what the police were doing about the attacks failed.
