Homosexual In Imo Community: Achi-Mbieri People Chooses Restraint, Forgiveness

A young male from Ihioma, Orlu area of Imo State, whose identity was not disclosed during the circulating film, was reportedly apprehended in Achi-Mbieri, Mbaitoli Local Government Area, following an incident that has gained wide attention on social media.

According to certain Facebook accounts associated with a viral video, the matter involved allegations of same sex conduct.

Community sources, however, stressed that the incident remains an allegation and should be treated with caution, pending proper verification and due process.

It was gathered that community youths intervened promptly to prevent any escalation of the situation.

They reportedly ensured that no physical harm was inflicted and encouraged the individual involved to express remorse, after which pleas for forgiveness were considered by members of the community.

The viral video also made reference to an older resident of Achi Mbieri, identified only as Dee Anselem, in connection with the allegation.

Community leaders emphasized that individuals mentioned online should not be subjected to trial by social media or public condemnation without lawful investigation.

Leaders and residents of Achi Mbieri reiterated that the community does not support mob action or taking the law into one’s hands.

They underscored the need for calm, restraint, and respect for lawful procedures in addressing sensitive and delicate matters.

Members of the public were further urged to desist from spreading unverified claims and inflammatory content. Instead, they called for prayers, guidance, healing, and a responsible resolution of the issue in line with moral values and the rule of law.

Although reports indicate that the incident allegedly occurred about forty eight hours ago, its circulation on social media platforms, particularly Facebook, has intensified public attention and renewed calls for caution and responsible engagement.

Meanwhile, as at the time of filing this report, the Imo State Police Command is yet to issue an official statement on the matter.
