I def!led my 7-year old maid because my wife claims to be fasting anytime I need her— 65-year-old Pastor confesses
The General Overseer of Jesus House of Joy Church, Awka, Pastor Mr Francis Ogwu were yesterday Thursday 27th, June, arrested by Men of Anambra State Police Command for defiling his 7 year old house help.
The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 65-year-old pastor, Mr. Francis Ogwu for allegedly d£filing his seven-year-old domestic help in Awka, the state capital.
The suspect, a native of Imo State, is the General Overseer of Jesus House of Joy Church, Awka. He has lived with his wife and children in the state for over 30 years.
He was arrested on Thursday, June 27, following an alarm raised by concerned neighbours.
Ọgwụ, during interrogations, confessed to the Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, Ify Obinabo, that he “just f+ngered the girl once” but denied other allegations of penetration as against what the seven-year-old victim said.
On why he defiled the child, the suspect explained, “I was tempted because my wife usually gives excuses that she’s fasting whenever I want to have quality time with her.”
Narrating her ordeal, the seven year old victim told Obinabo that the suspect had carnal knowledge of her three times.
“He usually gives me money ranging from N500 to N1000 after each experience. Sometimes, his wife accuse me of sn@tching her husband from her.
What prompted my leaving the house was repeated b£@ting I received from the daughter over irrelevant issue,” she said.
The victim’s mother, a native of Awka, stated that she handed the daughter over to the Ogwu family because of the relationship they have had over time, but was shocked when her daughter returned to her and told her of the development.
She revealed that she quickly called the suspect, who, upon arrival, denied the allegations, which prompted her to involve other persons by raising the alarm.

Abuja hotel collapse: Wike orders arrest of owner, to convert land to public use
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has ordered the immediate arrest of the owner of a multi-story hotel that collapsed in Jikwoyi, Abuja last Friday, April 4 and announced that the land would be seized for public use.
LIB had reported that the building crumbled while workers were on site, triggering an emergency response from relevant authorities.
Visiting the site today April 7, Wike said the building was constructed without approval from the FCT Department of Development Control and that all the stop-work notices sent to the builders were ignored by the developer.
Wike confirmed that while there were no fatalities, several people sustained injuries and were taken to the hospital. He warned that the outcome could have been far worse.
Announcing the government’s plans for the land, Wike said the FCT Administration will take over the land for public use, noting that those responsible for the illegal construction will face prosecution in accordance with the law.
He added that the local community would be consulted to determine a suitable public-purpose project for the reclaimed site.
