Imo ADC Chairman Okoroma, Holds Meeting With LGA Party Leaders Calls for peace

The newly inaugurated Imo State Chairman of the African Democratic Congress ,ADC, Prof.James Okoroma has called on all the party Chairmen in the 27 LGAs of the State to embrace peace and offer hands of followership as the party is still undergoing its coalition process to form a strong political force.

The chairman made the appeal while addressing the LGA Chairmen at the party secretariat in Owerri the State capital.

He said that the ADC of yesterday is no longer the ADC of today, pointing out that the party has undergone sudden transformation because of the coalition agreement it entered with other political parties.

Okoroma, appealed to the LGA party heads to embrace any change of leadership that may occur within the party across the 27 LGAs in the process of accommodating other political blocks that are part and parcel of the the coalition formation.

He noted that the coalition has brought many development within the party’s structure both in the State and at the national level as it tries to manage diverse interest of different groups.

The party chairman, however assured them that their efforts in building the party will be rewarded in different ways, pointing out that the central focus of the party is to obtain power first, then every other things will follow up in solidifying its ground.

Okoroma added that changing of party leadership does not mean removing the entire party heads in the various LGAs, maintaining that those who have solidified their structures at the grassroots level will be retrained while others will be given relevant positions within their LGAs.

” Bringing together diverse interest of divergent people is not an easy task.
So I’m trying to bring everyone together because
It’s important to put heads together to achieve our objectives.

“I advise you to reach out to your people and ensure you establish the party’s presence at the grassroots.
I’m going around meeting stakeholders telling them about ADC so that our presence will be fully registered in the State” he said.

The ADC Chairman also informed that the party is going to
establish disciplinary committee and other relevant committees to ensure orderliness within its folds.

He further maintained that nobody will be segregated “even if you are removed as chairman, another position can be given to you” he added.

In their separate remarks while responding to the chairman’s speech, some of the LGA chairmen urged the State chairman to use his position to ensure nobody among them will be intimidated out from office.

The LGA party heads also assured the chairman that they will do their best in keeping the party together for the greater challenge ahead.
