The Imo State Chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has successfully inaugurated the remaining six Local Government Area (LGA) executive councils of the party, thereby completing its full grassroots leadership structure across all 27 LGAs of the state.

The event, held on Friday, October 3rd, 2025, at the party’s State Secretariat, New Owerri, was a blend of celebration and solemn reflection.

Before the commencement of the main program, party members observed a minute of silence in honor of the late Hon. (Chief) Ugochimereze Chinedu Asuzu, the Deputy Publicity Secretary of the party, whose sudden passing earlier in the week deeply saddened the ADC family.

The six LGAs inaugurated had been unable to conclude their harmonization process during the earlier swearing-in of 21 LGAs, making this exercise both historic and symbolic, as it marked the completion of the ADC’s grassroots leadership framework in Imo State.

The atmosphere was charged with solidarity, renewed commitment, and optimism for the future of the party.

In his address, the State Chairman commended the resilience and patience of the newly inaugurated LGAs, noting that their inclusion signified the completion of a full circle of grassroots leadership. He emphasized that with all 27 LGAs now fully inaugurated, the ADC is better positioned to engage in issue-based politics, inclusive governance, and credible representation of the people.

He urged the new executive members to uphold discipline, loyalty, and service, reminding them that the strength of the party lies in unity, grassroots mobilization, and adherence to democratic ideals.

The ceremony was graced by members of the State Working Committee (SWC) and the State Executive Committee (SEC), who expressed satisfaction at the milestone and pledged continued support for the local structures.

Bringing the event to a close, Prince Ibeawuchi Obolobo, one of the newly inaugurated LGA chairmen from Ahiazu Mbaise, delivered a warm vote of thanks, appreciating the state leadership, party faithful, and guests for their presence, encouragement, and contributions to the day’s success.

The Imo ADC leadership reaffirmed its commitment to building a united, people-centered political movement, while pledging to uphold the legacy of the late Hon. Asuzu, whose dedication, service, and vision continue to inspire the party’s mission and values.
