IMO GOVERNMENT TO BEGIN RENEWED ENFORCEMENT OF BAN ON OKADA IN OWERRI MUNICIPAL FROM NOVEMBER 7, 2025

The Imo state government have noticed the criminal activities and risk posed by the commercial bike riders (aka Okada) to the safety and security of citizens, within the owerri municipal city.

In a bid to curtail these criminal activities, to with; snatching of hand bags, phones and gun running, the state government hereby issues a 7 days notice to all commercial bike riders commencing from today the 1st of November 2025 to 7th November 2025, to cease operating within the owerri municipal city.

The state government shall commence enforcement and confiscate any commercial bike (okada) caught plying the streets of owerri municipality beginning from 8th November 2025 and the rider will be tried by a mobile court in accordance with the law.
