The Imo Newspaper Publishers Association (INPA) has publicly expressed deep satisfaction with the impressive strides recorded by the Imo State Government under the purposeful leadership of Governor Hope Uzodimma. The association, made up of leading newspaper publishers across the state, issued a collective statement recognizing the administration’s unwavering commitment to workers’ welfare, infrastructural advancement, and economic rejuvenation.
According to INPA, one of the most commendable developments under Governor Uzodimma’s administration is the recent increase in salaries and emoluments of Imo State civil servants, which has now positioned them among the highest paid government workers in Nigeria. The association described the development as a milestone achievement, noting that it reflects the Governor’s genuine concern for the welfare of the state’s workforce.
As key stakeholders in the information and media sector, the publishers acknowledged that their role allows them to regularly receive both commendations and criticisms about government policies and actions. They reaffirmed their duty to objectively highlight achievements, offer constructive criticism where necessary, and propose improvements that would further enhance governance in the state.
The association revealed that it had received positive feedback from numerous Imo workers who expressed appreciation for the upward review of their salaries. INPA therefore urged the government to ensure that every civil servant is fully captured in the implementation of the new salary structure so that the benefits are uniformly experienced across the board.
Beyond workers’ welfare, INPA also lauded Governor Uzodimma for his massive road construction and rehabilitation projects spanning the state capital, Owerri, as well as major urban centers like Orlu and Okigwe. The association noted that these infrastructural interventions have significantly transformed the state’s outlook, improved accessibility, and boosted economic activities.
However, the publishers appealed to the Governor to extend similar attention to rural roads, many of which remain in deplorable condition, causing hardship for residents in the hinterlands. They emphasized that a robust rural road network is essential for agricultural productivity, trade, and the overall well-being of the rural populace.
The association reiterated its position as a responsible corporate partner and major employer in the state, affirming its readiness to continue working with the Imo State Government in advancing the goals of development, transparency, and inclusive governance.
In their concluding remarks, the publishers commended Governor Hope Uzodimma for his unwavering dedication to the welfare of the people and the socio-economic progress of Imo State, urging him to sustain the momentum of good governance and people-centered leadership.
The joint statement was signed by prominent members of the Imo Newspaper Publishers Association, including:
