Imo Police Commissioner Bans Use of Unmarked Vehicles, Mini-Buses by Tactical Teams
The Commissioner of Police in Imo State, CP Aboki Danjuma, has issued a directive prohibiting all tactical teams under the command from using unmarked vehicles, including mini-buses and tricycles (popularly known as Keke), during patrol operations across the state.
The directive, announced in a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Henry Okoye, follows widespread complaints from members of the public alleging harassment, intimidation, and extortion by officers using unapproved and unidentifiable vehicles.
CP Danjuma condemned the practice as highly unprofessional and warned that any tactical team found violating the order will face immediate disciplinary action. He further stated that commanders of such teams will be held vicariously responsible for any infractions committed by their subordinates.
The command reiterated its commitment to professionalism, accountability, and adherence to ethical policing practices, in alignment with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police.
All police units have been directed to comply strictly with the directive, while residents are encouraged to report any violations to the appropriate authorities.
