IMO POLICE HONOUR 70 YEARS OF WOMEN IN SERVICE WITH STATEWIDE SAFETY SENSITIZATION WALK.

The Imo State Police Command has advanced its week-long commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the Nigeria Women Police by organizing a vibrant Safety Sensitization Walk across key routes in Owerri on Monday, December 1, 2025. Led by Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, the event highlighted the strategic role of women officers in enhancing public safety and strengthening community trust.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Henry Okoye, the exercise—coordinated by senior female officers—focused on deepening awareness of issues affecting women and children, promoting security consciousness among residents, and fostering healthier police–community partnerships. Participants engaged directly with members of the public, sharing safety tips and reinforcing the shared responsibility required to maintain peace and stability in the state.
DSP Okoye further disclosed that CP Danjuma lauded the exceptional courage, professionalism, and resilience displayed by generations of women police officers over the last seven decades. He emphasized that their contributions have not only shaped the Nigeria Police Force but have also inspired ongoing reforms and positive behavioural change within the institution.
The Command announced that the anniversary activities will continue throughout the week with more community outreach programmes and public safety initiatives aimed at deepening civic awareness across Imo State.
