The Federal High Court in Abuja has fixed November 20 for judgment in the terrorism case involving the detained leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.

Justice James Omotosho announced the date on Friday after Kanu failed to open his defence within the six days allocated by the court.

The judge noted that the IPOB leader had been given enough time and opportunity to defend himself but chose not to take advantage of it.

According to Justice Omotosho, Kanu cannot claim to have been denied his constitutional right to a fair hearing after refusing to utilise the window granted by the court.

Kanu is facing terrorism-related charges filed by the Federal Government, which has accused him of inciting violence and destabilising the country through his activities with IPOB.
