Peter Obi has officially joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC) party, putting to rest speculations about his return to the Labour Party. He made this move on December 31, 2025, citing patriotism and national interest as reasons for leaving Labour Party, where he was the presidential candidate in the 2023 elections
Obi’s defection has boosted ADC’s membership, with several lawmakers and politicians joining him. The party is positioning itself as a major opposition force against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 elections
