Katsina Community And B@ndits Hold Public Meeting, Strike Peace Deal As Kidn@pped Victims Are Freed
According to the report, Sheikh Barrister Ibrahim Sabi’u, a former secretary of the Islamic Justice Commission and a judge at the Katsina State Court of Reconciliation, emphasised that the negotiations were conducted under Islamic law to ensure lasting peace.
Residents of Jibia Local Government Area in Katsina State have reached a peace agreement with arm€d b@ndits in a bid to end years of viol€nce and ins€curity in the region.
As part of the reconciliation, the b@ndits handed over two AK-47 rifles and admitted to abducting 10 people from Daddara town, who have now been freed and taken to the General Hospital in Jibia for medical attention.
The peace meeting, held on Friday, February 28, 2025, at Kwari village, was facilitated by the Jibia People’s Forum under the leadership of Alhaji Gide Dahiru.
A security analyst and counter-insurgency expert in the Lake Chad area, Zagazola Makama disclosed the development on Monday via his X handle.
He explained that community leaders, including the Chairman of the Jibia Business Association, Alhaji Sama’ila Mai Maasara, and elder statesman Alhaji Haruna Sada Zare, attended the reconciliation talks.

According to Hikaya Newspaper, notorious b@ndit leaders Audu Lankai and Tukur Nigerian were among those engaged in the peace process.
However, as part of the agreement, residents demanded an immediate cessation of att@cks on Jibia town and its surrounding communities, protection for farmers, and an end to cattle rustling.
Meanwhile, the b@ndits, in turn, pledged to respect government laws and cease cattle rustling and other crim!nal activities.

Zagazola added that Alhaji Babangida Bracket, a resident of Daddara, confirmed the release of the @bducted victims, marking a potential turning point in efforts to restore security in Katsina State.

EID-EL-FITR: IGP DISU FELICITATES MUSLIM FAITHFUL, ORDERS NATIONWIDE DEPLOYMENT OF TACTICAL ASSETS
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, has extended warm felicitations to the Muslim faithful across Nigeria on the successful completion of the holy month of Ramadan and the celebration of Eid-el-Fitr.
In furtherance of his commitment to ensuring a safe and secure environment during the festive period, the Inspector-General has directed Commissioners of Police and Tactical Commanders across all states of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory to implement robust security arrangements.
Operational measures include:
Strategic deployment of tactical teams and intelligence operatives.

Deployment of the Special Intervention Squad and conventional police personnel to Eid prayer grounds and critical infrastructure.
Increased presence at highways, motor parks, recreational centers, and other public spaces to ensure peaceful, hitch-free celebrations.
The IGP has also ordered heightened visibility policing, coordinated patrols, enhanced surveillance operations, and intelligence-led stop-and-search duties. These actions are aimed at proactively deterring criminal activities and ensuring a swift response to any emerging threats.
IGP Disu calls on members of the public to remain vigilant, cooperate with law enforcement agencies, and promptly report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through the following emergency lines:
