The Imo State Government’s 14-day grace period for commercial buses with tinted glasses and covered number plates ends today, and enforcement begins tomorrow, June 6, 2025.

Governor Hope Uzodimma ordered the crackdown due to security concerns, as tinted commercial buses have been linked to crimes like kidnapping, armed robbery, and hit-and-run operations in Imo State.

The Special Enforcement Committee, led by Nze Chinasa Nwaneri, Special Adviser to the Governor on Monitoring and Compliance, will oversee the operation. Hon. Anthony Chidi (Madoka) is supervising the logistics and security measures.

Commercial vehicles found operating with tinted glasses or covered number plates will face immediate impoundment and legal consequences. There’s no further extension or excuse, as the government believes nearly a month’s notice is sufficient for compliance.

The clampdown aims to eliminate “one chance” criminal activities and restore order in the transport system, ensuring public safety and security.

Commuters are advised to avoid boarding tinted or improperly registered vehicles and report suspicious vehicles to the authorities.

The government’s decision follows a written plea from the Imo City Transport Drivers, who requested more time to comply with the directive to remove tinted glasses from their buses. Despite initial protests, the government granted a final 14-day extension, which expires today .

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has declared two more persons wanted in connection with an alleged cryptocurrency fraud scheme linked to the collapsed digital trading platform, Crypto Bridge Exchange, CBEX.

The EFCC, in a notice issued on Wednesday via its official social media channels, identified the suspects as Folashade Odelana and Bamidele Ayodele Abiodun, who are 31 and 32 years old respectively.

They were accused of orchestrating fraudulent activities on the platform, which reportedly led to substantial financial losses for unsuspecting investors.

The anti-graft agency said the last known address of the duo is No. 17, Oremeta Street, Allen, Ikeja, Lagos State.

“The public is hereby notified that the persons whose photographs appear below are wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for fraud allegedly perpetrated on an online trading platform called Crypto Bridge Exchange (CBEX),” the statement read.

The EFCC called on members of the public with credible information regarding the suspects’ whereabouts to contact its offices across Ibadan, Enugu, Kano, Lagos, Gombe, Port Harcourt, or Abuja.

This latest development brings the total number of individuals declared wanted in connection with the CBEX fraud to 12.

Recall that in April 2025, panic spread among CBEX users after they were suddenly unable to access or withdraw their investments from the platform.

The incident, which reportedly affected over 600,000 Nigerians, resulted in the loss of more than ₦1.3 trillion, according to victim estimates.

The scale of the collapse sparked nationwide outrage, with many investors demanding swift justice and restitution.

Earlier, the EFCC had declared eight persons wanted in relation to the same case.

They include Adefowora Abiodun Olanipekun, Adefowora Oluwanisola, Emmanuel Uko, Seyi Oloyede, Johnson Okiroh Otieno, Israel Mbaluka, Joseph Michiro Kabera, and Serah Michiro. Arrest warrants have since been secured for six suspects: Olanipekun, Oluwanisola, Uko, Oloyede, Avwerosuo Otorudo, and Chukwuebuka Ehirim.

The EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, assured the public that the commission was making progress with its investigations and recovery efforts.

Dr. Patience Kwache, the wife of former Adamawa North Senator, Ishaku Cliff Abbo, has officially announced her divorce from the senator via a statement posted on her official F@cebook page.

In her statement, she expressed gratitude for the time they spent together but acknowledged that they are better off apart. She wrote:

“Thank you for the two and a half years we spent together. We both tried, but we are better off apart. Indeed, we are both free from our miserable lives. I wish you all the best. The chapter has closed, and our marriage has ended.”

The announcement marks the end of their marriage, drawing a close to a chapter in the former senator’s personal life.
