Man Marries His Own Mother After Impregnating Her

The Zimbabwean woman and her son claim to be in love with each other and they decided to take their relationship to the next level and get married considering that the mother, Betty Mbereko (from Mwenezi in Masvingo) is now six months pregnant and expecting her son’s child, and her grandchild.
Mbereko, the said mother is just 40 has been a widow for the past 12 years and has been living with her 23-years-old son Farai Mbereko.
Report confirmed that she is six months pregnant and that she has decided it is better to “marry” her son because she does not want to marry her late husband’s young brothers, whom she says are coveting her.

Troops recover AK-47, ammunition in Benue anti-herdsmen raid

Troops from Operation Whirl Stroke, OPWS, on Saturday uncovered a weapon cache in Tse Adudu, Benue State, while conducting a clearance patrol targeting criminal elements believed to be terrorizing local farming communities.
The mission was initiated after credible tips from residents concerning illegal cattle grazing and crop destruction in Akpiti village, situated within the Gbanga/Tongo council ward.
In a statement issued by Lieutenant Ahmad Zubairu, Acting Media Information Officer for OPWS, the soldiers quickly mobilized on motorcycles toward the farm settlement. Upon noticing the troops’ approach, the suspected armed herdsmen reportedly fled into nearby bushes, leaving their cattle behind.
Further search of the vicinity led to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle, a magazine, and five rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, all concealed inside a makeshift hut.
Major General Moses Gara, Force Commander of the Joint Task Force Operation Whirl Stroke, lauded the troops for their courage and professionalism. He also commended the local residents for their prompt and precise intelligence, emphasizing that such cooperation is essential for maintaining peace and security.
General Gara reiterated OPWS’s dedication to restoring peace, enhancing food security, and fostering socio-economic stability in Benue and the broader operational area.
He encouraged the public to keep providing useful information to security agencies.

Over 500 Unknown Gunmen Reportedly Surrender in Orsu, Imo State

Over 500 individuals previously identified as “unknown gunmen” in Orsu Local Government Area of Imo State have reportedly surrendered their arms to state authorities. This action follows their acceptance of an amnesty offer extended by the Imo State Government.
According to reports, the state government has now issued a plea to others believed to still be operating from remote bush areas. Officials are urging these individuals to emerge, hand over their weapons, and accept the offered amnesty and rehabilitation program.
The Imo State Government stated this mass surrender is a key element of its strategy to restore peace in the region. The initiative aims to reintegrate repentant fighters back into society. Those who surrendered are expected to undergo a rehabilitation process before their planned reintegration into the community.

Bauchi: NSCDC intercepts vandals of railway infrastructure

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Bauchi Command said it has arrested two suspects and recovered a vehicle loaded with vandalized railway sleepers in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area of the state.
A statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Saminu Yusuf, said the suspects were apprehended on July 29, 2025.
The statement added that NSCDC operatives intercepted a white Peugeot J5 bus with registration number KTG 40 XF, loaded with 80 pieces of vandalised railway sleepers and four bags of charcoal.
The state commandant, Oloyede Oyerinde, hailed the operatives for their swift response, even as he reiterated the Corps’ commitment to protecting critical national infrastructure.
Oyerinde also urged members of public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security operatives. He equally warned criminals to desist from their evil ways or face the full wrath of the law.
