Super Falcons head coach, Justine Madugu has hailed his players for their brilliant display in the victory over Tunisia.

Nigeria defeated the North Africans 3-0 in the opening Group B fixture at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations on Sunday night.

The nine-time champions dominated the game from the start, and got their goals through Asisat Oshoala, Omorinsola Babajide, and Chiwendu Ihezuo.

The score line could have been more emphatic but for the Super Falcons profligacy in front of goal.

Madugu said the ultimate goal was for the team to start the competition with a win.

“It always feels good each time you set out to go out for a game. The ultimate goal for you is to win. And the fact that the team won, obviously, it is only natural that we are happy that the team won,”he said after the game.

Algeria defeated Botswana 1-0 in the other group game also on Sunday.

The Super Falcons top Group A with three points albeit on goal difference.

They will take on Botswana in their second game at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium, Casablanca on Wednesday.
