Messi remains highest-paid player in MLS [Top 5]

Inter Miami superstar, Lionel Messi, remains the best-paid player in the Major League Soccer, MLS, for the second consecutive year.

This was revealed in data published by the MLS Players Association. It showed that Messi earns a total guaranteed compensation of $20.45m.

The figure also represents a bit of the 38-year-old’s earnings, as he also gets from other revenue streams like an endorsement deal with Adidas and a revenue-sharing agreement with league broadcast partner Apple.

According to Sportico, Messi could rake in up to $150m over the course of his two-and-a-half year contract with Miami and MLS back in the summer of 2023.

Toronto FC forward, Lorenzo Insigne, is in second place with a guaranteed earning of $15.44m.

In third spot, is Messi’s Inter Miami teammate Sergio Busquets at $8.5m. Atlanta United forward Miguel Almirón is in fourth position at $7.87m followed by San Diego FC forward Hirving “Chucky” Lozano at $7.63m.

Inter Miami superstar, Lionel Messi, is in talks with Al-Ahli about a stunning move to the Saudi Pro League side later this year.

The transfer could see Messi become rivals within the same league again with Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ronaldo currently signed a new two-year contract with Al-Nassr to continue playing in the Middle East.

Messi’s current deal with the MLS side will expire in December 2025.

And as it currently stands, there has been no sign of a possible renewal.

That has opened up the possibility of Messi leaving Miami next year and several clubs are keen on his signature.

According to L’Equipe, Al-Ahli are interested have reportedly been working for “weeks” to convince the 38-year-old.

EPL: Aina pens new three-year contract at Nottingham Forest

Nigeria defender Ola Aina has put pen to paper on a new three-year contract with Nottingham Forest.

The versatile full-back will now remain at the City Ground until 2028.

Talks over a new contract started between his representatives and Forest last year.

There were fears among the Tricky Trees fans that Aina could leave the club this summer amid interest from Liverpool and Manchester City, as well as clubs from abroad.

Forest have now been able to convince him to sign a new contract.

The 28-year-old caught the eye with his impressive displays for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side in the Premier League last season.

Aina registered two goals and one assist in 35 league outings for the club.

He arrived at Forest on a free transfer two years ago after leaving Serie A club Torino.

WAFCON 2024: Okoronkwo promises more for Super Falcons after win over Tunisia

Esther Okoronkwo has promised to deliver more top notch performances for the Super Falcons at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

The AFC Toronto striker was named Woman of the Match in Nigeria’s comfortable 3-0 win over Tunisia.

Okoronkwo was introduced after the break by head coach, Justine Madugu.

The versatile striker was a thorn in the flesh of the Tunisian defenders with her dribbling skills, and runs.

The 28-year-old hit the woodwork in the 73rd minute after dribbling past two opponents.

She, however, set up fellow substitute, Chiwendu Ihezuo for the third goal six minutes before the break.

“It doesn’t matter where I start — what matters is the impact I have on the game,” she was quoted by CAFonline.com.
