Morocco’s reservoirs reach 50 percent fill rate for first time since 2021
As of January 24, 2026, Morocco’s reservoirs have finally crossed the symbolic threshold of a 50% fill rate, according to the Maadialna platform, which is affiliated with the Ministry of Equipment and Water. This milestone hasn’t been achieved since the spring of 2021.
This development marks a remarkable recovery compared to the previous year, with a 79.2% increase in water resources. This surge translates to an additional 3.7 billion cubic meters, raising the total available volume to 8.4 billion cubic meters.
The increase is attributed to recent rainfall and improved management of hydraulic reserves, offering much-needed relief after several years of water scarcity in certain regions.
