NAHCON Chairman, Sheikh Abdullahi Resigns
The Executive Chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Sheikh Abdullahi Pakistan has resigned from his position.
According to Western Post, the NAHCON boss resigned late on Monday night.
It would be recalled that Sheikh Pakistan was appointed in 2024 replacing Malam Jalal Ahmad Arabi.
Pakistan’s Monday resignation was the climax of issues trailing his watch over NAHCON including incompetence, maladministration and alleged corrupt practices.
The former NAHCON boss was criticised over his shoddy handling of this year’s hajj that may lead to the inability of many would-be pilgrims to perform the yearly pilgrimage.
One NAHCON source who pleaded not to be mentioned said: “Saudi authorities had earlier given Monday, February 9 as the last day for the capturing of the pilgrims’ papers.
“But by that date most pilgrims, medical and operational staff, among others, were yet to be captured as Chairman Pakistan continued to delay the finalization of the process.”
