Members of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) were on Thursday seen in Abuja protesting the continued detention of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

The students, who gathered in large numbers, demanded his unconditional release, describing his prolonged detention as “unacceptable.”

Speaking during the protest, the NANS leader expressed concern that despite a court of competent jurisdiction granting Kanu bail, the Federal Government has continued to keep him in custody.

“This is an injustice, and an injustice to one is an injustice to all,” the leader said, stressing that the government’s refusal to obey court orders undermines the rule of law and democratic principles.

The students vowed to continue pressing for Kanu’s release until justice is served.
