NDDC living up to expectations 25 years after, says Uzodimma
… Unveils Commission’s 25th Anniversary Logo; 2025 Sports Festival Mascot
Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has said that the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has lived up to expectations after 25 years of existence, applauding the Commission for its creative thinking of engaging young boys and girls through sports development.
Governor Uzodimma gave the verdict during the unveiling ceremony of the 25th Anniversary Logo of NDDC and Mascot for the 2025 Sports Festival referred to as ‘Bros’, weekend, at the Landmark Event Centre, New Owerri.
However, he advised the NDDC board and management to remain focused on the set goals of the Commission as an interventionist body, targeting the things that will improve the standard of living of the communities under their supervision going forward.
He expressed optimism that the new Logo will spur the Board and Management of NDDC for more service delivery and unwavering commitment towards achieving greater success in the Niger Delta Region.
The Governor maintained that NDDC remains a treasure, as the establishment of the Act in 1999 restored hope and confidence to the populace of the oil rich region.
He thanked the Board for choosing Imo State for the unveiling ceremony which he said “signifies a new beginning that at last Imo is safe and has restored its pride of place as the hospitality destination of the country.”
In his goodwill message, the Governor of Akwa-Ibom State, Pastor Umoh Eno, represented by his Special Adviser, Apostle Samuel Ekon, expressed joy for being part of the historic event.
He commended Governor Uzodimma for playing host at the event and the visible infrastructural development he has recorded in Imo State.
He noted that considering the network of roads built by the Governor, he deserved to be called “the Road Master.”
Other Speakers who gave their goodwill messages included; the Senate Committee on NDDC, Senator Asuquo Ekpenyon, the House Committee Chairman on NDDC, Hon. Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu, all of who commended the President BolaTinubu for delivering dividends of Democracy to the grassroot through NDDC. They pledged to always provide legislative support to the programmes of the Commission.
The Chairman of the 25th Anniversary Central Working Committee, Hon Boma Iyayi disclosed that the logo will be the official logo of NDDC for the year 2025, “while the
Sports Festival was religiously planned to bring together youths from the nine States of the State of the region.”
He expressed optimism that the Sports Festival will produce youths who will serve as sports giants that will represent the country in various sporting events, nationally and internationally.
Managing Director of the NDDC, Chief Samuel Ogbuku in his remarks highlighted the Commission’s journey since inception 25 years ago and said that the Commission has been positioned now to serve the region better in the years to come.
He thanked President Tinubu for the support the NDDC has received from him since assuming office, noting that the quality of members of the Board and management are a testament to the President’s commitment to the development of the region.
Ogbuku said after 25 years, the NDDC has every reason to celebrate and that they will stop at nothing to showcase what had been achieved in the years past which should embolden them to do more.
Highpoint of the event was the unveiling of the 25th Anniversary Logo, Sports Festival Mascot and Ambassadors of the 2025 Sports Festival.
Present at the event were, the Deputy Governor of Imo State, Lady Chinyere Ekomaru, Senators Osita Ngwu, Patrick Ndubueze, Ezenwa Onyewuchi; Speaker, Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. EID-EL-FITR: IGP DISU FELICITATES MUSLIM FAITHFUL, ORDERS NATIONWIDE DEPLOYMENT OF TACTICAL ASSETS
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, has extended warm felicitations to the Muslim faithful across Nigeria on the successful completion of the holy month of Ramadan and the celebration of Eid-el-Fitr.
In furtherance of his commitment to ensuring a safe and secure environment during the festive period, the Inspector-General has directed Commissioners of Police and Tactical Commanders across all states of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory to implement robust security arrangements.
Operational measures include:
Strategic deployment of tactical teams and intelligence operatives.

Deployment of the Special Intervention Squad and conventional police personnel to Eid prayer grounds and critical infrastructure.
Increased presence at highways, motor parks, recreational centers, and other public spaces to ensure peaceful, hitch-free celebrations.
The IGP has also ordered heightened visibility policing, coordinated patrols, enhanced surveillance operations, and intelligence-led stop-and-search duties. These actions are aimed at proactively deterring criminal activities and ensuring a swift response to any emerging threats.
IGP Disu calls on members of the public to remain vigilant, cooperate with law enforcement agencies, and promptly report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through the following emergency lines:
