Nigerian Police To Discipline Officers Caught Jogging Behind Actress Angela Okorie In Viral Video
In the viral video, two armed policemen were seen trailing the actress closely as she jogged casually, sparking outrage and questions over the misuse of state security personnel.
The Nigeria Police Force has announced disciplinary action against some of its armed officers who were caught on video bizarrely jogging behind Nollywood actress Angela Okorie during her workout — an act the Force described as “unprofessional and embarrassing.”
In the viral video, two armed policemen were seen trailing the actress closely as she jogged casually, sparking outrage and questions over the misuse of state security personnel.
Reacting to the video in a statement on Wednesday, the Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, said the conduct of the officers “clearly falls below the standards expected of members of the Nigeria Police Force,” adding that their actions have triggered “widespread public criticism.”
The statement, titled ‘Viral Video Of Actress Angela Okorie With Armed Policemen’, read in part: “The Nigeria Police Force strongly frowns at the conduct of armed police officers seen in a viral video trailing actress Angela Okorie while she jogged — an act considered clearly inconsistent with the professional standards and decorum expected of personnel of the Force.
“The incident, which appears to have occurred on or around a movie set, has also sparked widespread public concern and criticism.
“While it remains unclear whether the scene was part of a scripted production, the conduct of the officers seen in the video falls short of the standards expected of members of the Nigeria Police Force.
“Accordingly, necessary administrative processes have been initiated to identify the officers involved and determine the circumstances surrounding the video, while appropriate disciplinary action will be taken based on the outcome of the review.”
Adejobi noted that the Force remains committed to maintaining professionalism, discipline, and public trust.
This is coming a month after the Inspector General of Police issued a stern directive warning all personnel against uploading photographs of themselves in uniform to social media platforms.
The directive also prohibited sharing any official police documents online and warned against carrying luggage or umbrellas for Very Important Persons (VIPs).
According to an internal wireless message dated May 3, 2025, and exclusively obtained by SaharaReporters, the instruction was relayed to all personnel of the Police Mobile Force, No. 13PMF Squadron in Makurdi, Benue State.
The memo, signed by ACP Hassan S. Aliyu, the Commanding Officer, read: “The Inspector General of Police has reiterated his warning on NPF Social Media Policy, and further directs that, on no account, should any police personnel use his or her uniform picture on any social media.
“He further warns that any official documents are also prohibited to be (sic) published on social media, while those attached to V.I.P’s are warned not to carry any V.I.P’s luggage (bags) or umbrellas, any disobedience to these directives will be viewed with severe sanction.”

Ooni Of Ife Installs Ghanaian President Mahama as Aare Atayeto Oodua (Photos)
The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, on Monday underscored African unity while conferring the prestigious chieftaincy title of Aare Atayeto Oodua of the Source on Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama, stressing that Africans are “one people, one family” beyond colonial-era borders.
The ceremony, held at Afewonro Park within the Ooni’s Palace in Ile-Ife, attracted traditional rulers, political figures, and cultural dignitaries from both Yorubaland and Ghana, highlighting Ile-Ife’s historical significance as the spiritual homeland of the Yoruba people.
Receiving President Mahama with full honours and tight security, the Ooni, who also serves as Permanent Chairman of the Southern Nigeria Traditional Rulers Council, described the Ghanaian leader as a symbol of cultural continuity, economic reform, and Pan-African solidarity.
“This palace is familiar to you. You have been part of our journey and have grown with us,” Oba Ogunwusi remarked, acknowledging Mahama’s enduring connection with Ile-Ife even prior to his return to the presidency of Ghana.
The monarch further stressed that artificial boundaries imposed during colonial rule should not diminish Africa’s shared heritage, citing linguistic and cultural ties between the Yoruba and Ghana people.

“In Ghana, you say ‘Akwaabo,’ and here we say ‘Ekaabo.’ Are they not the same? We are one people, one family,” the Ooni declared.
Oba Ogunwusi recalled that during a previous visit to Ile-Ife after leaving office, prayers were offered with a prophetic declaration that Mahama would return to leadership, a prophecy he noted has since come to pass.
“To the glory of God, you are now a true reformer. Upon assuming office for a second term, Ghana’s economy witnessed a remarkable turnaround. We are immensely proud of your leadership,” he said, commending Mahama’s economic achievements and expressing confidence in his potential influence on the African Union.
In his acceptance address, President Mahama expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Ooni and the people of Ile-Ife, emphasising the ancestral links between Ghana and Nigeria.
“The people of Accra trace their lineage to Ile-Ife. We are one family,” Mahama affirmed, dedicating the chieftaincy title to all Ghanaians.
He also pledged to leverage his new role to strengthen bilateral relations and foster reconciliation within West Africa.
“As long as I serve as President of Ghana, I will work to deepen ties between our nations and bridge divides within ECOWAS,” he promised.
