Open Letter to Senator David Mark Over the Recent Happenings in Imo ADC

By Hon. Success Opara

Dear Senator David Mark,

I am writing to bring to your attention the recent developments within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Imo State, which have raised concerns about the party’s unity and direction. As a stalwart of the party, I humbly request that you intervene in this matter, leveraging your wealth of experience and leadership acumen to guide the party back on track.

The recent coalition discussions and agreements have sparked controversy, with some members expressing concerns about external influences undermining the party’s internal democracy. It has become clear that the ability of our candidates to connect with and convince the electorate is what truly matters. The last governorship election in Imo State demonstrated that party affiliation isn’t the deciding factor, but rather the candidate’s leadership qualities and ability to win votes at the polling units.

Unfortunately, sycophancy and selfish interests seem to be taking center stage, threatening to divide us over trivial matters. As Imolites, we must prioritize the integrity and constitution of our party. The State Working Committee of Imo ADC should operate independently, unaffected by external pressures. Our party’s Congress list is sacrosanct, and no one should attempt to undermine the leadership or constitution of the ADC.

Given your stature and influence within the party, I urge you to look into these matters and take necessary steps to:

1. Reaffirm the party’s commitment to internal democracy and constitutionalism.
2. Protect the interests of genuine party members and stakeholders.
3. Ensure the party’s leadership remains accountable and transparent.

The ADC has shown remarkable strength in Imo State, producing local government chairmen and 305 ward councilorship Aspirants whose names are with ISIEC  in the last election. Let’s work together to safeguard the party’s integrity and future.

I implore you, Senator David Mark, to take immediate action to address these issues and restore the party’s glory in Imo State.

Sincerely,
Hon. Success Opara
