Osimhen, Chukwueze, Sadiq, Bassey Lead Nigerian Stars’ Goalscoring Blitz Across Europe
Nigerian footballers delivered standout performances across Europe on Sunday, with Victor Osimhen, Sadiq Umar, Calvin Bassey, and Samuel Chukwueze all finding the net, while Bruno Onyemaechi and Ibrahim Olawoyin made crucial contributions for their clubs.
Osimhen’s brilliance not enough for Galatasaray
Victor Osimhen continued his red-hot form for Galatasaray, scoring twice in a thrilling 3-3 draw with Kasimpaşa.
The Nigerian striker opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 11th minute, extending the league leaders’ 24-match unbeaten streak.
However, Kasimpaşa fought back to take the lead through Mortadha Ben Ouannes and Josip Brekalo. Galatasaray equalised through Davinson Sanchez before Osimhen restored their advantage with a close-range finish.
But Kasimpaşa struck late to deny the champions-elect a win, leaving Galatasaray only four points ahead of Fenerbahçe at the top of the Turkish Super Lig with 65 points.
Sadiq rescues Valencia in six-goal La Liga thriller
Umar Sadiq was the hero for Valencia, scoring twice in a dramatic 3-3 draw at Osasuna.
The Super Eagles forward put Valencia ahead in the first half and produced a moment of magic late on, flicking the ball past the goalkeeper to rescue a vital point late in the tie. It is Sadiq’s first La Liga brace.
