Owerri Zone ADC Chairman Resigns, Cites Need for Equity and Fairness
In a surprise move, Hon. Andyson Obani, the Owerri Zonal Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Imo State, has resigned from his position as State Vice Chairman, Imo East. According to sources, Obani tendered his resignation to Prof. James Okoroma, Chairman of the Imo State ADC Secretariat Working Committee, on Tuesday, August 26, 2025.
In his parting remarks, Obani emphasized the importance of sacrifice, equity, and fairness, which he believes are core ideologies of the ADC party. Notably, Obani highlighted that the current State Chairman of ADC hails from the same constituency as him, and in the spirit of fairness, he felt it necessary to step aside to accommodate other constituencies and coalition partners.
“I believe the victory of Owerri Zone is more important than any party position,” Obani stated. “As an advocate of equity and fairness, I urge the party to prioritize inclusiveness and gender considerations.”
This development has sent shockwaves through the Imo State ADC, with many party members praising Obani’s commitment to the party’s founding principles.
