Patience Jonathan urges husband not to contest 2027 Presidency

Former First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, has advised her husband, ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, against contesting in the 2027 general election, describing the demands of leading Nigeria as overwhelming.

Her remarks come amid growing speculation about Jonathan’s possible return to the presidential race. While the former leader has fueled talks of a comeback through suggestive social media posts.

Speaking at a recent event, Patience Jonathan questioned the need for her husband to seek office again, noting that he had already served as president.

“The stress of Nigeria is so much. If God manages to bring you out of it, you should glorify God and thank Him for His marvelous work. The Lord has taken you there once; why do you want to go again? Me, I won’t go o,” she said.

The former First Lady further revealed that she now enjoys peace and youthful vitality since leaving the Aso Rock Villa, stressing her desire to focus on love, family, and personal fulfillment.

“I need peace and love, I want to share love with you. May God bless us, oh,” she added.
