Police rescue four abducted children, reunite them with families in Nasarawa
Nasarawa State Police Command has rescued four abducted children and safely reunited them with their families following a covert and intelligence-driven operation carried out in collaboration with the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command.
The rescue followed a report lodged on December 31, 2025, at the New Nyanya Police Division in Karu Local Government Area, after the children were reported missing under suspicious circumstances.
Police authorities stated that the report triggered an immediate investigation.
According to the command spokesperson, SP Ramhan Nansel, detectives swung into action after receiving credible intelligence, leading to the identification and raid of the suspects’ hideout, where the children were recovered unharmed.
Preliminary investigations, he said, revealed that the children were allegedly abducted by a 28-year-old suspect, Abraham Asoje, who reportedly acted in concert with one Joy Bolaje, 29, both residents of Ado Junction in Karu LGA.
Nansel stated that the suspects allegedly kept the children in confinement before operatives intervened.
“The children were safely recovered unhurt and have since been reunited with their respective families,” the statement read, adding that efforts are ongoing to track down other suspects believed to be connected to the abduction.
Commending the officers involved, the Commissioner of Police in Nasarawa State, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, praised their professionalism and swift response, describing the operation as a testament to effective policing and inter-command collaboration.
He reassured residents of the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property, particularly children and other vulnerable persons, while urging parents and guardians to remain vigilant and take adequate care of their wards.
The police also called on members of the public to promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through the command’s emergency lines, as part of collective efforts to curb crime across the state.
