The Oyo State Police Command has rolled out sweeping security measures ahead of the 2025 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Convention scheduled for Saturday, November 15, and Sunday, November 16, at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan.

In a statement issued Friday and dated November 13, 2025, the Command’s spokesperson, CSP Osifeso Adewale, said operatives are ramping up security measures to guarantee a safe and peaceful event.

The police noted that the gathering would attract high-profile politicians, international observers, journalists, party delegates and thousands of participants from across the country.

According to the statement, the Command has developed a robust security strategy in collaboration with other security agencies in anticipation of a massive turnout.

The plan includes intensified patrols, heightened surveillance, and intelligence-led stop-and-search operations across the state.
Security has been further strengthened at entry and exit routes into Oyo State, particularly around the Adamasingba axis.

The Command also disclosed that critical public spaces — including parks, train stations, and the Samuel Ladoke Akintola International Airport — will be placed under close monitoring throughout the convention period.

To minimise movement disruptions, residents have been advised to reorganise their travel plans.

“We encourage members of the public to explore alternative routes from the venue in a bid to prevent any potential disruptions in their movement plans for the period in view,,” the Command said.

Police authorities also issued a stern warning against any attempt to breach public peace, stressing that unauthorised rallies, protests, or gatherings before, during, or after the event will not be tolerated.

Reassuring residents of their safety, the Command emphasised its commitment to protecting lives and property while calling on the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities.
