POLICE WELFARE: IGP FELICITATES POWA ON ITS 2025 ANNUAL CONVENTION Reaffirms Commitment to Improved Welfare Packages for Personnel

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D, NPM on behalf of the Nigeria Police Force, felicitates the Police Officers Wives Association, under the distinguished leadership of its President, Dr. (Mrs.) Elizabeth Egbetokun on the hosting of its 2025 Annual National Convention today July 30th, in Lagos State. The three day convention,scheduled to hold from July 30th to August 1st 2025, themed “Unlocking POWA Potentials and Transformational Leadership,” is poised to be a defining moment in the Association’s ongoing evolution as a catalyst for empowerment and national development, underscoring POWA’s commitment to embracing innovation, leadership, and strategic partnerships that align with modern realities and the evolving needs of police families.

The Opening Ceremony of the convention scheduled for today Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at the prestigious Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos will be graced by eminent personalities, including top government functionaries, traditional rulers, diplomatic representatives, development partners, women leaders, and senior police officers.

The 2025 Convention will feature a series of impactful events, including empowerment sessions, sport sessions, and special initiatives aimed at enhancing the mental, physical, and economic well-being of POWA members. These engagements are designed to inspire a new generation of women leaders, empowering them to build stronger families towards a more peaceful and resilient nation.

The IGP while commending the visionary leadership of the National President of POWA in steering the Association towards reformation and transformation, reaffirms the commitment of the leadership of the force to improved welfare packages for serving and retired officers of the Force.

EID-EL-FITR: IGP DISU FELICITATES MUSLIM FAITHFUL, ORDERS NATIONWIDE DEPLOYMENT OF TACTICAL ASSETS

​The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, has extended warm felicitations to the Muslim faithful across Nigeria on the successful completion of the holy month of Ramadan and the celebration of Eid-el-Fitr.

​In furtherance of his commitment to ensuring a safe and secure environment during the festive period, the Inspector-General has directed Commissioners of Police and Tactical Commanders across all states of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory to implement robust security arrangements.
​Operational measures include:
​Strategic deployment of tactical teams and intelligence operatives.

​Deployment of the Special Intervention Squad and conventional police personnel to Eid prayer grounds and critical infrastructure.
​Increased presence at highways, motor parks, recreational centers, and other public spaces to ensure peaceful, hitch-free celebrations.

​The IGP has also ordered heightened visibility policing, coordinated patrols, enhanced surveillance operations, and intelligence-led stop-and-search duties. These actions are aimed at proactively deterring criminal activities and ensuring a swift response to any emerging threats.

​IGP Disu calls on members of the public to remain vigilant, cooperate with law enforcement agencies, and promptly report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through the following emergency lines:
