President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Friday arrived in Lagos State on a working visit as part of activities leading to Nigeria’s forthcoming 65th Independence Anniversary. The visit marks a continuation of the President’s engagements with critical stakeholders across the country as the nation prepares for a modest, low-key celebration of its independence.

The President’s arrival in Lagos followed his presence in Ibadan, Oyo State, where he attended the coronation of the new Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Rashidi Ladoja. The coronation event, held in the historic city of Ibadan, attracted dignitaries from within and outside the country, with President Tinubu lending his presence to honor the revered monarch.

While in Lagos, the President is expected to hold strategic meetings with prominent figures in Nigeria’s private sector as well as senior officials of government. These engagements are designed to strengthen collaboration between government and business leaders in the shared effort to boost economic growth, attract investment, and consolidate reforms targeted at national development.

In continuation of his itinerary, President Tinubu will proceed to Imo State on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, where he will commission landmark projects executed by the administration of Governor Hope Uzodimma. The projects underscore the Federal Government’s commitment to partnering with state governments in delivering tangible dividends of democracy to the Nigerian people.

As part of the Independence Anniversary program, President Tinubu will also unveil the newly remodelled National Theatre in Lagos, which has been renamed the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and the Creative Arts. The centre, named in honor of Nigeria’s Nobel Laureate, is envisioned as a hub for cultural expression and the creative industry, serving as a beacon of national pride.

The working visit, therefore, reflects President Tinubu’s commitment to governance that blends cultural heritage with infrastructural advancement, even as the nation approaches its 65th year of independence.

The Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, who announced the visit in a statement issued on Friday, emphasized that the President’s engagements are part of a broader national agenda aimed at consolidating unity, fostering growth, and celebrating Nigeria’s resilience as a nation.
