PSC EXTENDS POLICE CONSTABLE RECRUITMENT DEADLINE AS APPLICATIONS CROSS 400,000

The Police Service Commission (PSC), in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), has announced a two-week extension of the ongoing nationwide recruitment exercise for 50,000 Police Constables, following an overwhelming response from Nigerians across the country. The application portal, which was initially scheduled to close earlier, will now remain open until 8th February, 2026, having commenced on 15th December, 2025.
According to the Commission, the decision to extend the deadline was informed by the receipt of over 400,000 applications within a short period, reflecting the high level of interest among young Nigerians eager to serve in the Nigeria Police Force. A comprehensive review of the application data, however, revealed notable imbalances in participation across states of the federation.
While states such as Adamawa, Benue, and Kaduna recorded impressive numbers of applicants, other states including Lagos, Ogun, Bayelsa, Ebonyi, and Anambra were observed to have significantly lower application figures. The extension, the PSC explained, is therefore aimed at promoting fairness, inclusiveness, and equitable national representation in the recruitment process.
The Commission strongly encouraged all qualified and interested Nigerians, particularly those from states with lower application turnout, to take advantage of the extended window and submit their applications through the official recruitment portal at www.npfapplication.psc.gov.ng before the new deadline.
In furtherance of this objective, the PSC called on State Governments, Local Government Councils, traditional institutions, sociocultural and religious organizations, community leaders, and other relevant stakeholders to intensify sensitization efforts and mobilize eligible youths within their domains to participate in the exercise.
Reiterating its position, the Police Service Commission, alongside the Nigeria Police Force, assured the public of its unwavering commitment to a fair, transparent, and merit-driven recruitment process, emphasizing that the exercise is designed to strengthen the capacity and professionalism of the Nigeria Police Force in line with national security objectives.
The press release was signed by Mr. Torty Njoku Kalu, Head of Protocol and Public Affairs, Police Service Commission, Abuja, on 26th January, 2026.
