RFK JNR SAYS DOCTOR TOLD HIM A WORM ATE PART OF HIS BRAIN
Independent US presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr believed he may have been attacked by a worm that ate part of his brain and then died inside his head, US media reported on Wednesday.
Kennedy, 70, made the claim in a 2012 deposition as part of his divorce from his second wife, according to the New York Times, which said the scion of the storied political clan reported severe memory loss and mental fog.
A New York surgeon who reviewed his brain scans told Kennedy his health issues could have been “caused by a worm that got into my brain and ate a portion of it and then died,” the White House hopeful reportedly told attorneys.
Kennedy — a nephew of former president John F. Kennedy and known informally as RFK Jr — says he recovered from the 2010 incident and that he did not require treatment for the infection, according to the Times.
Around the same time, Kennedy — who has described a variety of ailments over the years, including an irregular heartbeat — said he was suffering from mercury poisoning, which can lead to neurological issues.
AFP has not independently reviewed the deposition but a spokesperson for Kennedy’s campaign said he had “traveled extensively in Africa, South America and Asia” as an environmental advocate and contracted a parasite during one of those trips.
The Times, citing speculation from doctors who had not examined Kennedy, reported that he might have developed a neurological condition caused by a pork tapeworm larva that would likely have survived on nutrients from the body rather than eating his brain.
Kennedy, a long-time vaccine skeptic, has presented himself on the campaign trail as more vibrant and youthful than the frontrunners — 81-year-old President Joe Biden and Republican challenger Donald Trump, 77.
Health and wellbeing are at the heart of his campaign and he is often pictured on social media taking part in outdoor activities and watersports — sometimes shirtless.
The environmental lawyer is boasting double-digit support ahead of November’s election, and polling has gone back and forth on whether he is hurting Biden or Trump more.

Winter Olympic Village runs out of condoms in three days after Athletes use up 10,000
The Winter Olympic Village in Italy has reportedly run out of condoms just three days after the start of the Games, after Athletes use up 10,000 protection.
“The supplies ran out in just three days,” an anonymous athlete told the Italian newspaper, La Stampa. “They promised us more will arrive, but who knows when.”
Organizers typically distribute thousands of free condoms to athletes staying in the Olympic Village as part of a long-standing public health initiative aimed at promoting safe sex during the Games. However, this year’s supply was quickly depleted within 72 hours, according to reports circulating from inside the Village.
The anonymous athlete blamed the Olympic organisers, saying they had not been “particularly generous with the numbers”. “In Paris the athletes received 300,000 condoms – two per day each – but the numbers for these Winter Games were significantly lower: not even 10,000,” La Stampa’s report states.
Last week the governor of the Lombardy region, Attilio Fontana, insisted the topic should not be a cause of embarrassment. “Yes, we provide free condoms to athletes in the Olympic village,” he said in a social media post. “If this seems strange to some, they’re unaware of the established Olympic practice. It began in Seoul 1988 to raise awareness among athletes and young people about sexually transmitted disease prevention— a topic that shouldn’t cause embarrassment.”
Fontana also shared an Instagram post by the Spanish figure skater Olivia Smart, in which she showed her followers condoms stamped with the yellow Lombardy Region logo. “I found them,” she says in the clip, which has gone viral. “They have everything you need.”
This year’s Winter Olympics has around 2,900 athletes from 92 different national committees participating in 116 different events across 16 disciplines. These 2026 games do have the highest percentage of female athletes (47%) in Winter Games history.

The incident has since sparked widespread grief and shock among family members, friends, colleagues, and members of the public.

Beatrice Ekweremadu Returns To Nigeria After UK Prison Release
Wife of former Deputy Senate President Ekweremadu returns home following custodial sentence, while her husband remains imprisoned in UK.
The wife of former Nigerian Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, Beatrice, has returned to Nigeria after being released from a prison in the United Kingdom.
Her arrival in the country on Tuesday, January 21, 2026, followed the completion of the custodial portion of her sentence for her role in a high-profile organ-harvesting conspiracy.
Mrs Ekweremadu was received by family members and close associates at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, marking her first time on Nigerian soil since the legal saga began in mid-2022.
While her return has sparked celebrations in her hometown of Mpu, in the Aninri Local Government Area (LGA) of Enugu State, it came amid the continued incarceration of her husband in London.
The return of the former Deputy Senate President’s wife followed her May 2023 conviction by the Old Bailey in London.
She was sentenced to four years and six months in prison for conspiring to facilitate the travel of a 21-year-old Lagos Street trader to the UK for the purpose of harvesting his kidney.
The organ was intended for the couple’s daughter, Sonia, who suffered from a chronic kidney condition.
The case, which was prosecuted under the UK’s Modern Slavery Act 2015, marked the first time the legislation was used in a human organ-harvesting prosecution.
Under UK law, non-violent offenders are typically eligible for release on license after serving half of their custodial term.
Reports indicated that Mrs. Ekweremadu’s release was further facilitated by her good conduct record and by a broader UK government initiative to address severe prison overcrowding.
Despite his wife’s return, Senator Ekweremadu remains in a UK correctional facility serving a significantly longer sentence.
In May 2023, the former lawmaker was handed a nine-year and eight-month term, as the court deemed him the primary driver of the conspiracy.
Efforts by the Nigerian federal government to secure his release or repatriation have so far been unsuccessful.
In late 2025, a high-powered diplomatic delegation visited London to explore a Prisoner Transfer Agreement (PTA) that would allow the Senator to serve the remainder of his term in a Nigerian facility.
However, the UK Home Office reportedly rejected the proposal in November 2025, citing concerns over the guarantee of the sentence’s continued enforcement if transferred to the Nigerian jurisdiction.
The third convict in the case, Dr. Obinna Obeta, who was described by the prosecution as the medical “middleman,” continues to serve a 10-year prison sentence in the UK.
Meanwhile, the couple’s daughter, Sonia, who was cleared of all criminal charges during the 2023 trial, remains in the United Kingdom, where she is reportedly receiving ongoing medical treatment for her condition.
