As tensions rise over President Bola Tinubu’s electoral reform, opposition leaders are turning to the newly registered New Democratic Congress (NDC) party as a viable alternative.

Former Senate President David Mark, currently leading the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has expressed discontent with Tinubu’s reforms, particularly on party primaries.

The NDC party is gaining traction, with prominent figures like Sakari and Peter Obi in Advanced talks with the NDC. Obi, a former Labour Party presidential candidate, has already defected to the ADC, which is positioning itself as a strong opposition force against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The ADC, led by Mark, has been vocal about its concerns regarding electoral transparency and fairness. The party has accused Tinubu’s administration of undermining democracy and has vowed to mobilize Nigerians to defend their constitutional rights.

Meanwhile, the NDC party’s emergence has sparked interest among opposition leaders seeking a united front against the APC. With Obi and Bukola Sakari in Advanced talks with  the NDC and this could become a significant synergy to win in Nigeria’s 2027 elections.
