Transfer: Ancelotti appointed club manager as Napoli reject offer for Osimhen

Former Real Madrid assistant coach, Davide Ancelotti, has been appointed the new manager at Brazilian side, Botafogo.

Davide and Carlo Ancelotti left Real Madrid at the end of the 2024-2025 season with the older Ancelotti taking over the Brazil national team.

The younger one has now agreed to take up the role as new head coach at Botafogo, as Fabrecio Romano reported.

It is Ancelotti’s first job of his managerial career as Geglobo reports after being Carlo’s right hand at Real Madrid in recent years.

After being close to Rangers, Davide Ancelotti starts career at Fogão.

Meanwhile, Napoli has rejected Galatasaray’s €60 million offer to sign Victor Osimehn.

According to Fabrecio, the Turkish side will return with a new proposal.

The club has already reached an agreement with Osimhen.

NPFL: Plateau United part ways with Itodo, Ambrose, Henlong

Daniel Itodo, Jimmy Ambrose and Charles Henlong have been deemed surplus to requirements by Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side, Plateau United.

The trio are the longest serving players in the team.

They have made over 537 appearances for the Peace Boys.

Itodo and Ambrose won the NPFL title with Plateau United in 2017.

Plateau United are on a rebuilding process following the appointment of a new management team by the state government.

Ekwutosblog recalls that Plateau United recently appointed young tactician Shola Adegun as their new head coach.

Plateau United finished in seventh position in the 2024/25 season.

Home Eagles begin preparation for CHAN 2024

The home-based Super Eagles have started preparations for the 2024 African Nations Championship, Ekwutosblog reports.

 

21 players took part in the team’s first training session at the Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne on Monday night.

The remaining 14 players are expected to hit camp on Tuesday (today).

Head coach Eric Chelle named a 35-man provisional list for the competition last week.

The team is expected to engage in series of friendlies while in camp.

Nigeria will face defending champions Senegal, Sudan, and Congo in Group D at the CHAN 2024 finals.

Chelle’s side will start their campaign against Senegal at the Amman Stadium, Zanzibar on Tuesday, 7 August.

They are making a return to the competition after missing the last two editions.

The CHAN 2024 finals which will be hosted by three countries will run from Saturday, 2 August to Saturday 30, August.
