THE POLITICS OF SUCCESSION OF PRESIDENT-GENERAL OF OHANAEZE NDIGBO WORLD WIDE AND 2027. – Willie Amadi

1. PREAMBLE.

Under the Constitution of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, it is unarguably the turn of the Igbo Speaking People of Rivers State to produce the next President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo come the election holding this year.

From the look of things, it does appear that the heavy weights of the Igbo Speaking People of Rivers State are playing shy of coming up to continue with the foundations set by their fathers and fore fathers like the Chief Emmanuel Agumah, the Okogbule’s, Senator Obi Wali, Chief Woluchem etc all of who founded the Ohanaeze Ndigbo and participated in drafting its Constitution.
The Igbo Speaking people of Delta State have held both the President General and Secretary General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide in the persons of Prof. Ralph Uwechue and General Achuzia respectively. Why can’t our Rivers State brothers come out and take their position ?
Why deny your identity ?

As things are now and following the hide and seek by some hardliners and the elites conspiracy of some political elements in Rivers State, the Constitution of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo will pave way for the former Inspector General of Police, Sir Mike Okiro who by birth and certificate is from Rivers State but ceded to Egbema in Imo State by political and geographical arrangements is set to run and emerge, and rightly as the next President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide despite his cultural, political and social affiliation with Imo State being a Rivers man both in law and in fact.

2. THE POLITICAL AND LEGAL ISSUES OF SIR MIKE OKIRO’S Candidacy.

a. CHIEF MIKE OKIRO IS CURRENTLY A CO-OPTED MEMBER OF THE IMO STATE COUNCIL OF ELDERS AND THE SUB-COMMITTEE CHAIRMAN ON SECURITY FOLLOWING THE INSECURITY WITNESSED IN THE STATE IN 2021.

b. HE IS ALSO THE CHAIRMAN/ SECURITY ADVISER OF ORLU DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION.

c. HE IS EQUALLY THE APEX LEADER OF ALL PROGRESSIVE CONGRESS (APC) IN OHAJI/ EGBEMA LOCAL GOVERNMENT OF IMO STATE. UNDER THE 1999 CONSTITUTION AND ELECTORAL ACT AS VARIOUSLY AMMENDED, HE IS QUALIFIED TO VOTE AND CONTEST ELECTION WHERE HE RESIDES AND DO BUSINESS IRRESPECTIVE OF HIS STATE OF ORIGIN AS GUARANTEED UNDER THE FREEDOM OF ASSOCIATION.

3. THE BURDEN OF THE SCREENING COMMITTEE.

a. THE SCREENING COMMITTEE, HEADED BY THE 80- YEAR OLD, NO NONSENSE SSG OF ABIA, DR, EME OKORO SHOULD AS A MATTER OF CONSCIENCE, JUSTICE AND FAIR PLAY DISQUALIFY ANY PERSON(S) WHO IS CONTESTING OUTSIDE THE OFFICES ZONED TO THEIR STATE.

b. THE SCREENING COMMITTEE, BEING THE CONSCIENCE OF THE ELECTORAL PROCESS LEADING TO THE EMERGENCE OF THE PRESIDENT GENERAL OF OHANAEZE NDIGBO WORLD WIDE WILL BE HELD DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY BREACH OF BOTH THE CONSTITUTION AND
EXTANT AGREEMENT REACHED AT THE TWILIGHT OF CHIEF IWUANYANWU’S TENURE TO ALLOW FOR A SEEMLESS TRANSFER OF POWER TO RIVERS STATE THROUGH THE ROTATIONAL SUCCESSION CLAUSE IN THE CONSTITUTION.

c. THE GOVERNORS OF THE SOUTHEAST SHOULD URGENTLY INTERVENE AND HEDGE THE PROCESS AND CAUTION ANY PERSON OR GROUP OF PERSONS OCHESTRATING ANY CONFUSION DIRECTLY OR DIRECTLY FOR POLITICAL BENEFIT, BECAUSE ANY STOIC SILENCE DURING THIS MORAL CRISIS WILL PLACE THEM ON THE WRONG SIDE OF THE HISTORY OF IGBOS AND OUR FOUNDING FATHER S.

FINALLY, FOR IGBOS TO CONTINUE THE AGITATION FOR ACCESS TO THE PRESIDENCY OF NIGERIA, THEY MUST COME TO EQUITY WITH CLEAN HANDS AND SUPPORT RIVERS STATE TO ASSUME ITS RIGHTFUL LEADERSHIP OF THE OHANAEZE NDIGBO IN THIS JANUARY 2025 ELECTION.

WE, THEREFORE CALL ON RIVERS STATE TO CALL OUT THEIR SONS WHO ARE IN THE MOULD OF THE NWODOS, OBIOZORS AND IWUANYANWU’S, I MEAN SONS SUCH AS THE AMAECHIS, WIKES, NWAUCHES, OKOCHAS, AWUTSES, OPARAS WHO ARE PURE IGBOS BUT CONSTANTLY LIVE IN SELF DENIAL FOR POLITICAL REASONS TO COME OUT AND TAKE UP THE LEADERSHIP OF OHANAEZE.

WE HOWEVER SALUTE THE COURAGE OF SIR MIKE OKIRO WHO BY BIRTH AND CERTIFICATE EVIDENCE IS LEGALLY FROM RIVERS STATE AND WHO IS NOT ALSO SHY TO BE CALLED AN IGBO MAN OF RIVERS STATE EXTRACTION. HE CAN FILL THE GAP BECAUSE HE IS QUALIFIED WITH A SOLID PERSONALITY AND CREDENTIALS REQUIRED FOR THE OFFICE OF PRESIDENT-GENERAL OF OHANAEZE NDIGBO RATHER THAN ALLOWING A MISCREANT, WHO IS BEING POLITICALLY SPONSORED BY A CABAL WHO DENY BEING IGBOS BUT PUSHING CANDIDATES FOR THEIR 2027 POLITICAL CONSOLIDATION AND TO DEMARKET THE HIGHLY COVETED SEAT OF THE PRESIDENT OF OHANAEZE WORLD WIDE.

While growing up, my late father counselled me when I make mistakes, saying, “Son, “it is never too late to correct a mistake, but that, any mistake made twice, is a decision”

I rest my case.

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, on Friday declared that he’s still a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Wike’s comment followed his expulsion from the party by the faction led by National Chairman, Kabiru Turaki.

Turaki had formally dispatched expulsion certificates to 11 prominent party chieftains, including Wike, former Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, Umaru Bature, Kamarudeen Ajibade, SAN, Abdurahman Muhammad Senator Mao Ohuabunwa.

He said their expulsion was aimed at sanitising the party ahead of the 2027 elections.

Reacting to the development on Friday, Wike dismissed the claim while assuring that he would continue to work with other party members in making PDP a relevant opposition party.

The minister spoke while addressing journalists after inspecting the Interchange bridge and road linking Gwarinpa with Jahi and direct to Katampe, Gishiri and Maitama.

He said, “Those that are factionalized are bound to leave the party, I’m still in PDP and you can see that not everybody has left.

“We still have good numbers and we will continue to work together and that’s what I have said to the party. Put your house in order because at the end of the day, if you don’t put your house in order, it’s the party that is losing.

“So those who are worried, we can work together to see how the party can remain a relevant opposition.”
