They told me if I know I can’t read then why am I in a school – Nigerian lady with an eye issue calls out staff and provost of Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital in Enugu for shattering her dream of becoming a mental health nurse

According to the Nigerian lady, she was diagnosed with an eye condition just after she enrolled in the school to become a specialist nurse.

She said during the exam period, she approached the school’s management, telling them about her condition and also sharing three ways they could help.

She said she told them they could make the fonts in her exam sheet bolder, get someone to read out the exam questions to her or give her an extra time.

After nobody approached her on the exam day, she went to one of the staff of the school and told her about her condition. The female staff turned and told her that if she knew she can’t read, why is she in school.

When she approached the provost of the school, he also shut her down, but subsequently told her to only answer the questions she can see and leave the others.

She revealed that she has now left the school and now looking for another school that can help her with her condition.
