Tinubu splits Nigerian aviation college into six campuses

President Bola Tinubu has ordered the division of the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), located in Zaria, Kaduna State, into six regional campuses.

The Ondo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) revealed this update on Wednesday via its official X account.

The post noted that the restructuring will expand the institution’s reach, ensuring better national coverage and smoother operations.

The new campuses will be established in Akure (Southwest), Osubi, Delta State (South-South), Ebonyi (Southeast), Ilorin (North Central), Yola (Northeast), and Zaria (Northwest).

Sharia law best for Southwest Muslims – JAMB registrar Prof. Is-haq Oloyede

The Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, has voiced support for the implementation of Sharia law in the Southwest.

Oloyede, who is also the Secretary-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), said Sharia panels would serve the interests of Muslims in the region.

He called on leaders in the South-West geopolitical zone to support the establishment of Sharia panels in the six states of the zone.

UNIZIK student bites, fights lecturer for interrupting her video recording [Video]

A female student of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, Anambra State, has triggered widespread reactions online after engaging in a physical confrontation with a lecturer who interrupted her while she was recording a dance video.

The incident, which has since gone viral, reportedly occurred within the university premises, drawing mixed responses from students and social media users.

In a circulating video, the young woman was filming a dance clip inside a school hall, seemingly for TikTok.

The lecturer, who needed to pass, tapped her on the back to get her attention and signal her to stop recording.

Subsequent reports suggest that the lecturer requested the student to delete the recording, as his face had been captured in the video.

However, the situation quickly escalated, leading to a violent exchange in which the student allegedly bit the lecturer multiple times.

While the lecturer attempted to restrain her by holding her hands, witnesses claim she became aggressive, tearing his clothes, slapping him, and scratching his face.

Footage of the incident shows the student attacking the lecturer while onlookers watched in disbelief.

Despite efforts to separate them, she continued her assault, causing commotion within the university.

Further reports indicate that the student’s mother is a lecturer in the Engineering department at the institution.

Isoko North Council Chairman pays all primary six enrollment fees

The Executive Chairman Isoko North local government Area of Delta State, Hon (Elder) Prince Godwin Ogorugba has taken a significant step to support education by paying all enrollment fees for the 43 public primary schools pupils in Isoko North local government Area.

The council boss made this known today 5th February 2025 when briefing News men at his office immediately after a brief meeting with his management team and Hod education, he said ” as part of my educational policy for Isoko North people which is tagged Brightening the future through Education, consolidating the MORE Agenda of His Excellency Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori , Governor of Delta State, I decided to pay for all the primary six pupils enrollment fees this year 2025.

Ogorugba emphasized that considering the economic challenges faced by many parents, majority of them are finding it difficult to pay the enrollment fees of their children hence his administration has taken on the responsibility of paying the enrollment fees for the 2025 academic year to enable the pupils write the forth coming primary six examination.

The Chairman therefore urged parents who have already paid for the enrollment of their children to meet their various head teachers for refund, he stated.

Ogorugba efforts have been Commended by various stakeholders including the former vice Chairman Isoko North council, Hon. Gabriel Alebe and immediate past Councillor, Ozoro Ward 2, Hon. Felix Adaimoni who praised the council Chairman achievements since assumption of office, such as distribution of free notebooks and others writing materials to the 43 public primary schools, Construction of 15 Lockup shops and 4 toilets at Ofagbe community, renovation of 65 open stores at Otor-Owhe community market, Rehabilitation of Otor-Owhe -Owhelogbo Road, rehabilitation of Otor-Iyede Road, tilling of offices in Isoko North council, construction of modern Administrative complex at the council Secretariat, renovation of open stores at Aradhe community market, among others
