Umuakagu–Umulolo–Umuezuo Naze Community Protests Alleged Land Grabbing by Imo Industry Commissioner, Chief Ernest Ibejiako

The people of Umuakagu, Umulolo, and Umuezuo in Naze, Owerri North Local Government Area of Imo State, have raised an urgent alarm over what they describe as the unlawful encroachment on their ancestral land, known abs called “Uhu Elu”.

They accused the Imo State Commissioner for Mines, Solid Minerals and Industry, Rt. Hon. Chief Ernest Ibejiako, (NwaNdaa), of leading an invasion of the land on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, with earth-moving equipment and heavily armed men who reportedly fired tear gas to disperse residents.

During a peaceful demonstration on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, indigenes carried placards with messages such as “Stop the destruction, stop the violence, stop the harassment. This is the only land we have for shelter and our identity given to us by our ancestors.”

They appealed to Gov.Hope Uzodimma to intervene.
