APC National Chairman, Ganduje

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Addulahi Umar Ganduje, Sunday stated that the task before the Party was the conversion of Abia, Enugu and Anambra to APC controlled States in the Country.

Ganduje who stated this during the APC South East Stakeholder’s Meeting at the Christian Ecumenical Centre, Abakaliki, urged APC Party Stakeholders within the region to work in unison, for the overall interest of the Party and eventual takeover of the three remaining States of South East for APC.

He told the people of the South East that the APC as a Party has began the implementation of its blueprint on the de-marginalization of the South East zone, as it will enable the people of the region to benefit maximally from the present administration and gain access to the mainstream of National politics According to him, all hands must be on deck in order for the vicious circle of marginalisation to be broken against all odds.

“For us to takeover Enugu, Anambra and Abia States, we must unite and uphold internal democracy and understand the constitution of our Party. We will soon start electronic registration. We will examine each polling unit to know the one that has registered for APC.

“We urge you (Ebonyi) to continue with this vigor until South East is brought into that political limelight.”

The Executive Governor of Imo State and Chairman, South-East Governor’s Forum, Sen. Hope Uzodinma, who acknowledged that Nigerians were going through difficult times as a result of the economy of the Country, urged them to be patient with the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led administration.

He enjoined Nigerians, especially the people of the South East not to take laws into their hands by embarking on any form of protest or crisis as the economic policies of the present administration will soon yield dividends. Uzodinma, who is also the leader of APC in the South East alleged that those behind the instigation of crisis and protests in some parts of the Country, were politicians who lost elections in the 2023 general elections in the Country.

“We thank Governor Nwifuru for converting the entire state to a one Party State. God Almighty has given us an opportunity to speak for our people. The cost of living is very high. We need to make our people know that there’s hope. I am not happy that the cost of living is high but the good news is that the policies of the federal government if judiciously implemented will bring prosperity to our people.

“People engineering protests are people who lost elections. We will not let them to incite our people. Nobody should incite us. We can never honour any crisis in Nigeria. We don’t want any crisis and war. I have no regrets for what we have passed through, because it has made us stronger. Ebonyi is a template and they have shown us the way. Abia is next. Don’t eat alone because if you eat alone you die alone.

“I want to thank the National Chairman for the programme to de-marginalize us. The more elections we win, the more things we get better.”

Speaking during the meeting, the Host and Governor of Ebonyi State, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru stress the need for unity, peace and oneness among Ebonyians, irrespective of Party affiliation.

The Governor, who de-emphasized the issue of crisis, infighting and violence, opined that the presence of peace was a catalyst for the overall development of the State.

“We are committed to the sustainability of democracy, which the Party upholds. All the issues raised will also be resolved. APC is the only political Party in existence in this State. It’s better to resolve by sacrifice other than through fighting and acceptance of the fact that everyone of us is needed and we believe that no one has the monopoly of violence.

“What we want is to make our Party proud by allowing the people decide. What we want is for everybody to be part of us. Those that are against our Party in the Party, will be shown the way out.”

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike has vowed to ensure that President Bola Tinubu’s enemies develop high blood pressure.

Wike said he had realised that Tinubu’s opponents are unhappy with his good works since assuming office in 2023.

The minister made this statement during the commissioning of the Arterial Road N16 (Shehu Shagari Way) from Ring Road 1 (Nnamdi Azikiwe Way) to Arterial Road N20 (Wole Soyinka Way), along with other roads in the Katampe district of capital city, by President Tinubu on Wednesday.

Wike recalled how he came to understand, while watching television, that some individuals harbour resentment towards Tinubu.

The minister vowed to continue rolling out commendable projects that would cause further dismay to the President’s critics.

He said: “Sometimes, I don’t know, spiritually I was touched. I was just touched to turn it (TV) on, and I was watching, and I didn’t realise that people could be in pain, but now I know that such people are in pain.

“I now must make sure I continue to give them high blood pressure. As they continue to be in pain, it’ll be sweetening us, and that’s now my job.

“I’ll be happy, moving around, and laughing every time, and they’ll be there shouting, fighting, and killing themselves. So, Mr President, thank you for being part of this revolution.”

Niger State Governor Mohammed Bago has expressed concern that despite over two decades of uninterrupted democratic rule, Nigeria still falls short of its potential.

The governor spoke in a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, to commemorate this year’s Democracy Day.

Bago stressed that more needs to be done to translate democratic rule into tangible development.

“It is worrisome that despite the uninterrupted democratic rule that Nigeria has been having from 1999, the Nation is still not where it should be. More needs to be done,” Bago said.

He called for electoral reforms and enhanced civic participation for inclusive governance and strong democratic institutions that protect the vulnerable, ensure justice and provide equal opportunities for all, thereby, advancing democracy in Nigeria.

Bago also called on Nigerians to reflect deeply on progress made, renew their commitments in the democratic process and uphold the principles of democracy.

According to him, “Democracy symbolises the victory of the collective will of the people, over dictatorship. It also reminds every patriotic Nigerian of the struggles, sacrifices, aspirations, and resilience of our past heroes and heroines.”

He also stated that semocracy has brought about transparency and accountability in governance, vibrant political competition, expression of diverse viewpoints and increased civic engagement, among others.

Bago reassured the people of Niger State that through responsible leadership and inclusive governance for a sustainable development, more dividends of democracy will be provided.

He also called for continuous prayers, support and understanding, while reiterating his firm resolve in the task of building a more secure, transformed and prosperous state under his New Niger Agenda.
