Why Southeast leaders did not discuss Nnamdi Kanu’s release with Tinubu
Lawmaker representing Udenu/Igboeze North Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Dennis Nnamdi Agbo, has explained that the issue of Nnamdi Kanu’s release was not brought up during President Bola Tinubu’s visit to Enugu due to time limitations.
Agbo who spoke during a television interview pointed out that the matter had been extensively addressed by various stakeholders, including governors and Ohanaeze Ndigbo.
The Labour Party lawmaker also noted that Governor Peter Mbah used his time with the President to highlight the state’s development, including its infrastructure and use of technology.
He added that with many others already speaking on Kanu’s release, there was no need to revisit the topic.
His words: “The issue of Nnamdi Kanu has been raised in various fora. Various people have spoken and made requests concerning Nnamdi Kanu. Ohanaeze Ndigbo, governors, different people have spoken about this particular subject. So the Governor of Enugu State had a very remarkable opportunity to push forward the issue of the development of Enugu State, the infrastructural development, the harnessing of technology to drive our development.
“He invited the President to observe and see, witness what he is trying to do to develop our state. And I think that because you can say, as you have already said, that the issue of Nnamdi Kanu has been belabored, it didn’t need a repetition. It didn’t need to take the little time or the amount of time that the president had to spend in Enugu State.
“I think that enough requests have been made, emphasis has been made, issues have been joined on that particular matter. And I didn’t think that it was necessary for him again to come and start driving home, the same point again that many other people have made.
“He had a lot of things to say about the development of the state, the educational sector, the employment of technology in fighting crime, infrastructural development, and so on and so forth.
“So I think he managed his time very, very well and focused attention on those things that maybe not too many people have spoken about or come from the angle that he is coming from. And I think that was a very good use of time, of the President’s time.”

2027: Bala declares aspirants over 55 years disqualified in ADC
The factional National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Nafiu Bala Gombe, has announced that the party under his leadership will bar individuals above the age of 55 from contesting for political positions.
Gombe made the disclosure during an interview with BBC Hausa, where he outlined a vision centred on generational change and greater youth participation in politics.
“The African Democratic Congress (ADC) is a party that belongs to all Nigerians. What we are doing now is to ensure the party moves forward properly.
“We have decided that we will give the youths a real chance. The time has come for young people to take the lead in politics.
“If you are over 55 years old, you are not going to contest for positions in the ADC under our leadership.
“We want to bring in fresh blood, new ideas, and energy from the youth. Nigeria’s future depends on the young generation.
“The old ways have not worked well for the country. We need to open the door wide for youths to participate fully as candidates, leaders, and decision-makers,” he said.
