Yahaya Bello hiding in Kogi Government House – PDP chieftain, Usman Okai alleges

Yahaya Bello

The House of Representatives candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Dekina/Bassa Federal Constituency in the 2023 elections, Austin Okai, has claimed that immediate past Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello, is currently hiding in the state government house,

Recall that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, had in April declared Bello wanted.

This followed the inability of the former governor to appear before Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court Abuja for his arraignment over alleged N84bn money laundering.

The anti-graft agency had said anybody with information as to his whereabouts should report immediately to the commission or the nearest police station.

However, in a statement on Friday, the PDP chieftain alleged that Ododo played a role in “helping Bello evade the EFCC by whisking him away from Benghazi Street Zone 4 in Abuja.”

According to him, “This information was reportedly brought to the President and Commander-in-Chief by the Northern Ethnic Youth Group Assembly (NEYGA).

“The Attorney General of the Federation also warned Ododo about obstructing justice.

“It is widely believed that Bello is currently hiding in the Kogi State Government House, where he is being protected by Governor Usman Ododo.

“The truth remains that Ododo is allegedly being directed by Yahaya Bello from a hidden location,” Okai added.

BREAKING: After Controversy, Yerima Finally Sacked

Published

The National and State House of Assembly Elections Petition Tribunal in Kano has nullified the election of Muktar Umar Yerima of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).

The tribunal also directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to withdraw the certificate of return earlier issued to Yerima.

The petitioner, Hafizu Kawu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), challenged Yerima’s emergence, claiming he wasn’t qualified.
IgbereTV recalls that Yerima was declared the winner of the House of Representatives election for Tarauni Federal Constituency by INEC.
However, Daily Trust reports that the three-man panel of the tribunal led by Justice I.P. Chima held that Yerima was not qualified because he forged his primary school certificate.

The tribunal had held that Yerima’s defence that he had a change of name in 2022 did not hold water, having been using three (Umar Mukhtar Zakari) names on his international passports since 2009, while his primary school certificate still bears Umar Mukhtar.
It also held that the said primary school, Hausawa Primary School, has disowned the certificate tendered by the sacked lawmaker.
Therefore, it was ruled that the NNPP had no candidate in the election.
