‘You Have A Case To Answer In Imo State,’ Abuja Court Rules Against Willie Amadi on Chinasa Nwaneri, Commissioner of Police
Abuja | October 29, 2025
The Federal High Court 8, Abuja Division, presided over by Justice Emeka Nwite, has dismissed a suit filed by Barrister Willie Amadi against Nze Chinasa Nwaneri, the Commissioner of Police, FCT, and three others, ruling that the applicant failed to prove any infringement or threat to his fundamental rights.
In the suit numbered FCT/ABJ/CS/1652/2025, Amadi had sought the enforcement of his fundamental human rights and an injunction restraining the police and other respondents from tracking or monitoring him.
Delivering judgment, Justice Nwite upheld the arguments presented by Nwosu Jason, counsel to the 1st respondent, as well as the submissions of counsel representing the 2nd to 4th respondents. The court agreed that Amadi’s claims lacked credible evidence to substantiate any violation or potential threat to his rights.
In a decisive pronouncement, the court held that the application was without merit and therefore dismissed it in its entirety, affirming that Barr. Willie Amadi still has a case to answer in Imo State.
The ruling effectively clears the way for further legal proceedings in Imo State, where Amadi is reportedly facing ongoing prosecution.
Legal analysts describe the judgment as a reaffirmation of the principle that the courts will not shield any individual from lawful prosecution under the guise of fundamental rights enforcement.
