Former Executive Chairman of Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area, Chief Iheukwumere Alaribe, has officially handed over the council’s administration to Mrs. Chinedu Ajagu, the Director of Administration and General Services (DAGS), after completing his term. The handover ceremony occurred on Monday, during which Alaribe officially transferred the responsibilities and assets of the local government to the new administrative leadership to ensure smooth continuity.
During the event, Alaribe expressed gratitude to God for enabling him to serve the people of Aboh Mbaise. He also thanked Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, for trusting him and giving him the opportunity to serve as the council’s chairman.
The former leader acknowledged that his administration might not have fulfilled every expectation, but he maintained that they did their best given the available resources and circumstances.
In his remarks, “We may not have been able to accomplish everything that everyone wished for. There were expectations we could not meet, challenges we could not completely overcome, and dreams that will still require the attention of those coming after us. But I can say with a clear conscience that we gave our best,” he said.
Chief Alaribe highlighted that his administration carried out various projects and initiatives across the local government, including road grading, market development, healthcare, infrastructure, and community development.
He also addressed supporters and critics alike, stating that both groups contributed to maintaining accountability in public office. The former chairman asked anyone he might have offended during his tenure to forgive him, while encouraging residents and stakeholders to continue fostering peace, unity, and development in Aboh Mbaise.
Regarding the council’s finances, Alaribe revealed that he was leaving behind more than N57 million, along with other funds held by the Treasurer, to ensure ongoing progress and accountability.
The ceremony was attended by numerous political figures, council officials, traditional and community leaders, as well as representatives from the workforce.

Chinonye Nwogu; Hon. Ugonna Ihenaka; Hon. Kingsley Umunnakwe; Hon. Chris Anyanwu; Hon. Magnus Odoemene; Hon. Chinwendu Ihenachor; Hon. Michael Anokwu; Hon. Anderson Elugwara; Hon. Emma Anyanwu; Hon. Hygenus Nwokeocha; along with heads of departments and the Head of Personnel Management, among others.
