Published

on

We show those who want and are interested in working in Canada how to obtain a work permit in Canada for the year 2024, what are the different types of work permits, and how you can estimate the length of time you will need to obtain a Canadian work permit. We will also take a look at the basic steps that must be followed to obtain this permit: 1/ employment prospecting:
The initial crucial phase involves identifying an employment opportunity in Canada. In order to proceed, it is necessary for you to have a work offer from an employer based in Canada.

2/ Verify your eligibility:
It is imperative to confirm that you satisfy the essential criteria for the specific position, including abilities, experience, and certifications. Depending on the nature of the employment, it may be necessary for you to undertake a medical examination or acquire a certificate of no criminal record.

3/ To apply for a work permit in Canada:
you must first identify a job opportunity and confirm that you meet the necessary requirements. Then, you can submit an application for a temporary work permit on the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC)website.

4/ Application processing:
Once the application is submitted, it will undergo processing by the authorized authorities in Canada. The duration of application processing may vary based on the specific permit type and the nation in which the application is submitted.

5/ Await the designated date:
Following the completion of the application process, you will be notified of the specific date on which you may commence employment in Canada.
There are various types of work permits available in Canada.
Canada has three primary categories of work permits:

1/ Provisional employment authorization in Canada:
The most prevalent form of work authorization in Canada is the one being referred to. This visa grants you the authorization to engage in employment within Canada for a designated duration, contingent upon specific terms and conditions. In order to proceed, it is necessary for you to secure a job offer from an employer in Canada. Additionally, you will need to submit evidence that there are no eligible Canadian workers who are able to fulfill the employment requirements.

2/ Obtaining an open work permit in Canada:
This is a unique category of work visa that grants you the authorization to work in Canada without requiring a specific job offer. An open work visa is subject to some limitations, but offers increased versatility in selecting your business and work location.

3/ Obtaining a permanent work permit in Canada:
This category is uncommon and grants you the opportunity to work in Canada on a permanent basis. To acquire a permanent work permit in Canada, one must either hold permanent residency status or meet the eligibility criteria for permanent residency via immigration programs.

The duration required to acquire a work permit

It is important to understand that the length of time required to receive a work permit is influenced by various factors, such as:

Work permit classification:
As previously stated, there exist various classifications of work permits. Temporary work permits typically have shorter processing times compared to permanent work permits.

Instructions for application: Submitting your application electronically typically results in a shorter processing time compared to submitting it on paper.

Country of application:
The nationality of the applicant can impact the duration required to acquire a work visa. Certain countries may have a reputation for expediting order processing more efficiently than others.

Seasonality and market demand:
At times, there are periods of high demand for work permits in Canada, which might lead to longer processing timeframes.

The impact of COVID-19 on political dynamics:
Global events and shifts in politics can impact the duration required for an individual to acquire a work visa.

Typically, the timeframe for acquiring a temporary work visa might vary from a few weeks to several months, but permanent work permits may require many years. Therefore, it is crucial that you be adequately prepared to endure and exhibit patience throughout the Canadian work visa application procedure.

Sex worker dies in Ondo brothel altercation

Published

on

Operatives of the Ondo State Police Command have arrested three people over the death of a commercial sex worker at a brothel in Akure.

One of the suspects had sought the services of the deceased but demanded a refund of his N15,000 following the alleged failure of the sex worker to satisfy his desire.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Olayinka Ayanlade, the incident occurred at the weekend in a popular brothel in the Cathedral area of Akure, the Ondo State capital.

Ayanlade stated that during a sexual activity with one of the suspects, the sex worker complained of tiredness, which infuriated the customer. This then escalated into a heated altercation between the manager of the brothel, the deceased, and the suspect, as well as friends he had invited to help retrieve the money initially paid for the services.

The police spokesperson said: “At approximately 10 am on June 29, the manager of the brothel reported to the station under the jurisdiction of A Division that there had been a violent altercation between a sex worker and a male customer earlier that morning. The disagreement began when the sex worker reportedly complained of sudden weakness during an encounter and could no longer continue providing the agreed services.

“The police acted swiftly and professionally; while the victim was being rushed to a nearby hospital in the Lafe area, officers at the scene simultaneously effected the arrest of three suspects involved in the incident. The victim was later referred to the Police Hospital in Akure but was, unfortunately, declared dead on arrival by a medical officer. Her body has since been deposited at the State Specialist Hospital morgue for autopsy.”
