Sanwo-Olu Denies Ordering Deportation of Osun Indigenes as Adeleke Engages Lagos State Government

Published

on

In an unprecedented turn of events, the Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, engaged in a dialogue with his Lagos State counterpart, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, regarding the reported deportation of Osun indigenes from Lagos to Ilesa. This incident, which stirred a wave of reactions across social media, has attracted mixed sentiments from Nigerians.

A recent online report revealed that several luxury buses transported a large number of youths from various locations in Lagos and left them stranded in the Ilesa area of Osun State. Eyewitnesses described how the youths were allegedly gathered at an uncompleted building near the Makoko police station before being subsequently moved to different junctions within Ilesa.

Expressing deep concern over the distressing situation, Governor Adeleke confirmed the report through a comprehensive investigation by the state government’s team. The findings pointed to a suspected team from Lagos State facilitating the deportation.

Governor Adeleke promptly reached out to Governor Sanwo-Olu to address the issue. Governor Sanwo-Olu, equally taken aback by the news, vehemently denied authorizing such an act and pledged a swift investigation into the matter.

Assuring the people of Osun, Governor Adeleke instructed the state’s security agencies to intensify surveillance efforts in Ilesa to locate the deported youths and ascertain their well-being. He also advocated for calm among residents while awaiting further updates from the investigation.

Tinubu has Northern Nigeria at heart — Gov Inuwa Yahaya

Published

on

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has revealed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has shown genuine love and commitment to the development of Northern Nigeria, particularly through his investments in the livestock sector.

The governor made this statement on Saturday during the ground-breaking ceremony of a 184-hectare Agro-Livestock Industrial Zone in Gombe State.

According to the Governor, no northern leader in nearly five decades had invested as much in the livestock value chain as President Tinubu has done within his first year in office.

He said, “If not for a President who loves his people and has the capacity and will, this transformation would not have happened. No northern leader in 47 years of power considered investing ₦120 billion to transform the livestock sector, despite it being a predominantly northern industry.”

Yahaya praised President Tinubu’s administration for initiating programmes that are already bringing positive changes across the country, especially in agriculture and livestock development.

He noted that the Agro-Livestock Industrial Zone being established in Gombe is part of the president’s broader plan to boost food security, create jobs, and grow the economy.

“The president approved ₦120 billion for the development of the livestock sector and has already released 50 per cent of the funds. This is a clear indication of his commitment to the economic well-being of our people,” the governor said.

He also assured President Tinubu of the full support of Gombe people ahead of the 2027 elections.

“I assure the President that for what he has done, is doing, and will do, Gombe people will follow him to the battlefield blindfolded. We will work for his success in 2027. By God’s grace, his re-election is assured.”

Gov. Yahaya urged Nigerians to remain patient, adding that although current reforms may come with temporary hardship, the long-term benefits under President Tinubu’s leadership will be worth the wait.

Tension in Kano as IGP summons Gov Abba’s spokesman over Ganduje

Published

on

The political tension in Kano has continued as Nigeria police chief, Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has ordered the appearance of Sanusi Bature Dawakin-Tofa, spokesperson to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

This latest police invitation is tied to the controversial 2024 suspension of the APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje — a political heavyweight in the state.

The police believe Dawakin-Tofa played a major role in orchestrating the drama that led to Ganduje’s temporary removal by his ward’s party executives.

In an official letter dated May 23, 2025, the IGP asked the Kano State Government to release Dawakin-Tofa for questioning.

The letter, signed by Deputy Commissioner of Police, Akin Fakorede, claimed the governor’s aide is being investigated for criminal defamation, impersonation, and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace. The police want him to appear on May 29 before one of their top officers, SP Mojirode B. Obisiji, at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

This isn’t the first time the police have gone after Dawakin-Tofa. Back in December 2024, a similar arrest order was issued over the same matter — a development that triggered legal battle between the police and the Kano government.

At the heart of this saga is a long-standing political feud between Ganduje and Dawakin-Tofa, both of whom hail from the same area in Kano. Their rivalry stretches back to 2015, when Ganduje, then governor-elect, allegedly ordered Dawakin-Tofa’s arrest over his opposition during that year’s election.

In 2024, Ganduje was suspended by the APC executive committee in his ward — a move the party later disowned, but one that stirred massive political ripples.

Fingers immediately pointed at Dawakin-Tofa, with Ganduje accusing him of plotting the whole thing to crush him (Ganduje’s) in Kano.

In response to the initial police move against him last year, Dawakin-Tofa secured a court order shielding him from arrest, detention, or harassment.

That injunction covered not only the IGP, but also the DSS, Civil Defence, and senior police officers involved in the case. However, that legal protection hasn’t stopped the latest police action.

His legal team has since appealed a ruling by a Kano High Court that dismissed his suit against Ganduje and the police, hoping the Court of Appeal will offer relief.

The political tension in Kano is only getting thicker, especially with the 2027 general elections on the horizon.
