If integrity and nobility were a person’s name, it would be Chief Mike Ahamba – a thoroughbred intellectual of the highest order whose integrity permeates everything with nobility as its anchor.

Some time ago, he informed me — only a few people know this, that Mike Ahamba has been President Muhammad Buhari’s personal lawyer for over two decades and a member of his political inner circle.

He has led the legal team in all the president’s electoral cases, up to the Supreme Court.
However, in 2015, Dee Ahamba pursued a different political path, distinct from his friend’s.

Though their personal relationship remained cordial, they remained on different political sides through out the President’s 8 years tenure, as Dee Ahamba refused to compromise his integrity by supporting a presidency that conflicted with his political beliefs at the time.

Indeed, it was in Dee Ahamba the saying of my mentor and personal idol, Prof. Chinua Achebe came to be a reality — ‘One of the truest tests of integrity is its blunt refusal to be compromised’.

Today, on his birthday, we salute his courage in maintaining his impeccable integrity and standing up for what he considers right.

We wish him good health, longevity, and the courage to continue upholding his values.

Happy birthday, sir!

Ambrose Nwaogwugwu.

Nigeria Police Service Commission (PSC) on Wednesday urged President Bola Tinubu to promptly dismiss the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, accusing him of undermining the police recruitment process.

The PSC also refuted allegations of corruption leveled against it.

During a press briefing in Abuja, Adoyi Adoyi, Chairman of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN) and Joint Union Congress of the PSC, expressed discontent over what he termed as false accusations against the Commission.

Over the weekend, the IGP, through a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, claimed that the recruitment process was riddled with irregularities and corruption.

Adoyi countered these claims, revealing that there was reliable information suggesting that elements within the police force had attempted to insert over 1,000 names into the recruitment list clandestinely.

“This action undermines the integrity of the recruitment process and the credibility of the police force,” Adoyi stated, urging the President to act swiftly to maintain the integrity of the nation’s police recruitment.

It was the Middleton’s first public appearance since their daughter’s cancer announcement.

Just days after making a radiant return at this year’s Trooping the Colour, Kate Middleton was notably absent as her parents, Prince William, and a number of other key royals made an appearance at the Royal Ascot. On Wednesday, the Prince of Wales joined Queen Camila, Princess Eugenie, Princess Beatrice, and Zara and Mike Tindall at the prestigious equestrian race, along with Carole and Michael Middleton – who were seen chatting and catching up with their son-in-law on the second day of the event.

Despite Kate’s absence at the Royal Ascot, her parents’ appearance was notable as it marked their first public event since she announced that she’s undergoing chemotherapy for cancer in March.

The Middletons were seen talking to members of the royal crowd as well as William, who was photographed speaking closely to them and even holding Carole’s hand in the Parade Ring ahead of the race.

Only time will tell whether Kate’s parents will get more involved in public-facing duties and events as the Princess of Wales and King Charles both go through cancer treatment, but it highlighted reports from the Palace that emphasized that Kate’s surprising Trooping the Colour appearance didn’t mean she was returning to work.
